the voices are diverse in theme, form and attitude,

of myth, folklore and sonnet as it suits each work,
Intermissa, Venus uses modern free verse and lyric
meter with the impact of Icelandic saga, in a voice
that is both absorbing and friendly.

Sometimes formal, sometimes a spirited one-way

perspective and voice with provoking irony. Pekarske
reveals the painful confessions of the aging
narcissist, "admitting I want to live, watch my salt
intake," people living by the rules of cause and
effect, the ugly rhythm of give and take, and the
disappointment of idolatry, "the urge to tear
something pure."
