4.0 out of 5 stars As Dark and Pissed Off as Ever
Those familiar with these boys' combination of Boston streetpunk and hardcore aren't in for many surprises with this album. The same themes prevail in this album as in their previous albums: disgust with the government, society, and life in general. If anything this album is darker and more raw than "State of Discontent," the band's previous Hellcat release...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent followup to a breakout CD
First off, I think it's really funny that someone is making fun of Mark's voice and then suggesting that we buy the Career Soldiers. That's dude's voice is 10 times as messed up. Personally I like both.

So yeah, being the kid who listens to a lot of punk, (including street punk) but understands that it is just music and that it doesn't always have to be taken...

This band rocks!!! Hard hitting thrash/punk angst. Male vocals, killer punk album. This makes not only one of the best albums of 2007, but speaking for myself, this is one of the best punk records ever made. I love the hell out of it. For fans of Dwarves, Suicidal Tendencies, The Casualties, and Slayer.

First off, I think it's really funny that someone is making fun of Mark's voice and then suggesting that we buy the Career Soldiers. That's dude's voice is 10 times as messed up. Personally I like both.

So yeah, being the kid who listens to a lot of punk, (including street punk) but understands that it is just music and that it doesn't always have to be taken too seriously and that the name is not always that important (Sorry Jake Casualtie), I don't really care what people label the Unseen's new sound. I have all 6 Unseen LPs and they are all very good. I do like the new clean sound a little better, as long as it isn't overproduced.

So anyway, this CD. I realized when I bought it that it wasn't going to be able to top State of Discontent, which I absolutely loved, but I give these guys credit because they put forth a really good effort to do the impossible. The sound hasn't changed all that much, it's got more good catchy hooks from Scott and the new guitarist Johnny, Tripp is still relatively inaudible, Mark still sounds like he's got something lodged in his throat (which I don't mind at all, I love Mark's voice).

So why 3 stars instead of 5? That's what I gave State of Discontent after all. Well, after owning this CD for a while I began to realize that the middle of the CD was beginning to sound a little mediocre to me. I'd listen to the first two tracks (which are definitely the best) and then I would kind of phase out, the songs would start to blend together, and I would just kind of start to wonder how many more tracks until "Step Inside... Take Your Life" Basically, the half full of songs between "Break Away" and "Step Inside" are pretty forgetable, even though they are really good songs and no doubt would sound awesome live (I've seen these guys 3 times, soon to be 4 on Thursday, but they didn't play too much new stuff last time I saw them at Warped), but as far as the CD goes they are it's weak point. Also, the lyrics on this CD seem bleaker than before.

Still an awesome CD though. Standout tracks are "Such Tragedy" "At Point Break" "Step Inside" and the cover "Talking Bombs," though none will be able to top "Scream Out" from their last CD. I'd recomend it to any Unseen fan or any fan of the genre. Punk rock that isn't quite in it's rawest format.

Call me a poser, it's fine, seriously...
