It is often said that the worst of times brings out the best in each of us. Do we really have to wait for the dreaded things we fear to come true in order to take some action? No! We can be happy today and enjoy every moment of our lives. If something should come along to steer us off course, it may still be a serious situation, but we will not have been living in the irrational fear of "what if" for so long that time passed us by.

In "A Ten-day Journey to True Happiness", author Roger Revak shares with us his "worst time" that prompted forward motion in his life. Just about to turn forty years old, Mr. Revak was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Cancerous or not, his first thoughts were more inward. He instantly recognized that time was of the utmost importance and every moment needs to count. That's not to say that POOF, he was instantly happy. Far from it; it was the starting point of his mini-quest in discovering himself. His true self was revealed through the removal of his outer layers of armor built up over time and experience. Able to freely breathe for the first time in many years, he realized that holding back his true personality in fear of saying something off center only had him presenting half of himself to the world. The relief and joy felt through this release was so enthralling that it prompted Mr. Revak to share his path with the world in hopes of aiding others needing a boost to change their course.

Reading more like a memoir than a self-help book, I found Revak's writing style to be refreshing. He shares what he learned as he shares a part of himself, allowing the book to connect with readers on a more personal level. One thought that is threaded through the book is certainly clear....it's never too late to take a chance! Recommended for anyone looking to bring a little more happiness to their life...happy reading.....

In his book, Internal Vision: A Ten-Day Journey to True Happiness, author Roger Revak, shares a deeply personal story of a devastating time in his life about a ten-day journey that could have cost him his life. Within the story, the author presents a self-help guide inspired by his emotional and physical struggle following his brain tumor diagnosis.

In his first forty years, Roger Revak was a man who struggled through life with no clear purpose. Haunted by the verbal and emotional abuse by his father, Revak's adulthood involved struggling with his own internal conflicts, which affected his outlook on life and his loved ones. He had dug himself into an emotional hole and lived in a cycle of negativity. It was not until his diagnosis of a brain tumor that he began the journey of emotional and physical healing. It is a personal journey of spiritual growth and enlightenment.

The book is divided into 15 chapters with each chapter telling the story of his plight with a brain tumor as well as a series of `lessons unlearned' and self-help exercises at the end of each chapter. These lessons include: #1.) What does living in the present mean? #2.) What is fear? (Rational and Irrational Fear) #3.) How do you live in the present? #4.) What's in it for me (Advantages of living in the present) #5.) What is the downside to living in the present? #6.) Love your inner child as if he or she were your own. #7.) Forgiving yourself. #8.) Creating Happiness (Directions to a peaceful life) #9.) Peace #10.) Happiness 101 #11.) Don't forget to laugh #12.) How can you learn to be present without having a traumatic experience? 13.) It's your secret. #14.) Finding your purpose. #15.) Be true to yourself.

Un-learning all the programmed behaiviours that you put in your mind along your life and which stop you from being happy is a very powerful concept. The author manages very candidly and with humor this un-learning process in few lessons that are easy to follow. The author's journey through a very critical experience make him realize that he had to unlearn himself this 'bad programming' to overcome any obstacle in order to be happy and tells you how.

It is a fun, easy reading and you can take these lessons as an every day recipe to happiness.

It is a very insightful and enlightening book.

Internal Vision is a simplified, real life version of living what Eckhart Tolle writes about in the Power of Now. I could hardly put the book down as I was amazed at how present, aka conscious, Roger stayed from the time he was diagnosed with his brain tumor to well after his successful surgery. I laughed and cried throughout the book . This is a man that is real to the core, shares very intimate details of what it's like to come quite close to death and how he has remained quite grateful and present today . . . and top it off he's really, really funny!
