Book Description

February 2, 2009 0808020587 978-0808020585 3
As business and capital markets continue to grow more global, the need for cross-border financial information has correspondingly increased. And, as IFRS gets closer to becoming a reality in the United States, international accounting has been brought to the forefront in both the academic and the practitioner markets. International Accounting: A User Perspective is designed to provide an understanding of international accounting issues to current and future business managers. With the problems exposed in the quality of financial reporting in many countries, a solid understanding of international accounting issues is an important part of the portfolio of skills that managers in medium and large enterprises must possess.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hope 3rd Ed. is better., December 10, 2009

This review is from: International Accounting: A User Perspective (Paperback)
I own and have used both the first and second editions. Used the second edition for teaching. It is rather thin on useful, current material and at best out of date. I haven't seen the third edition but I suggest as for a survey class intended to build vocabulary, it is OK.

Radebaugh is a better introductory test but Doupnik is the best text I have found to cover International Accounting. The Choi text is difficult to read with many passages hitting 17 and 18 on the Gunning Fog Index.

4.0 out of 5 stars Need to be updated., June 8, 2010

A decent textbook for business student. But figures need to be updated, as even in this version ,some of them are still not up to date, for instance, about the countries which have adopted IFRS, the charts in the book are definitely out of date. This is not a big deal to any serious business student who will check that online.Other than this, this is a well written international accounting book. Recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oustanding material!, June 14, 2001

International Accounting by S. Saudagaran is an outstanding material on the vital aspects of International Accouting. While easy to read, it is also thought-provoking and idea-inspiring. While comprehensible, it is also comprehensive. These combinations are hard to find in Accounting texts and endear this book to its many users.

The world is fast becoming a global village and in this wake of globalization, it is pertinent to understand the inherent diversities in financial reporting and its implications on business. This was well handled in the text. The chapters on the diverse roles of Accounting in different countries, diversity in financial reporting, globabal harmonisation and its various dimensions, a thorough discussion on related accounting standards and the environemtal implications are extremely helpful

I will highly recommend this book to students of Accounting and any other individual who wants a thorough synopis of accounting in the global village.
