4.0 out of 5 stars Need to be updated.
A decent textbook for business student. But figures need to be updated, as even in this version ,some of them are still not up to date, for instance, about the countries which have adopted IFRS, the charts in the book are definitely out of date. This is not a big deal to any serious business student who will check that online.Other than this, this is a well written...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hope 3rd Ed. is better.
I own and have used both the first and second editions. Used the second edition for teaching. It is rather thin on useful, current material and at best out of date. I haven't seen the third edition but I suggest as for a survey class intended to build vocabulary, it is OK.

Radebaugh is a better introductory test but Doupnik is the best text I have found to cover International Accounting. The Choi text is difficult to read with many passages hitting 17 and 18 on the Gunning Fog Index.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oustanding material!, June 14, 2001

International Accounting by S. Saudagaran is an outstanding material on the vital aspects of International Accouting. While easy to read, it is also thought-provoking and idea-inspiring. While comprehensible, it is also comprehensive. These combinations are hard to find in Accounting texts and endear this book to its many users.

The world is fast becoming a global village and in this wake of globalization, it is pertinent to understand the inherent diversities in financial reporting and its implications on business. This was well handled in the text. The chapters on the diverse roles of Accounting in different countries, diversity in financial reporting, globabal harmonisation and its various dimensions, a thorough discussion on related accounting standards and the environemtal implications are extremely helpful

I will highly recommend this book to students of Accounting and any other individual who wants a thorough synopis of accounting in the global village.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and clearly written, May 28, 2006

This review is from: International Accounting: A User Perspective (Paperback)
Saudagaran's text (2nd edition) is an excellent overview of international accounting today. It's simply and logically organized, well-written, and sophisticated enough, without bombarding the reader with endless detail.

It's worth every penny.
