4.0 out of 5 stars Playing this game in NTSC format December 6, 2010
Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
For a cricket fan like myself, this game is a huge relief. Now first let me start by informing you guys that this game is shipped from UK - where they use the PAL video output format. Here is USA we use the NTSC format. Simply put if you want to play this game in USA - you need a HD TV and a HDMI cable.

I was unable to play the game at first, and on doing some research regarding the error displayed by my PS3 - I found out that I need a HD TV and a HDMI cable. I did recently buy a 3D TV - and bought a couple of cheap HDMI cables online. But that did not help. I was about to return this game - but out of sheer luck I decided to try one of those expensive HDMI cables. I got the SONY HDMI cable($34.00) and I was indeed able to play the game. The graphics are good, commentary is very nice.

All in all 4 out of 5 stars for this game. Hopefully EA sports will follow suit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Game; But can get stale quickly! January 27, 2011
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Seems like there aren't too many options out there for cricket games. Was really excited for this game, got it in Terminal 3 at Heathrow Airport.

NOTE: THIS GAME IS IN THE PAL FORMAT. HERE IN THE USA WE USE NTSC. IN ORDER TO PLAY THIS GAME IN THE USA YOU NEED AN HD TV AND AN HDMI CABLE. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THOSE COMPONENTS.

Solid game, has all of the forms of cricket (Twenty20, ODI, and Test). The Australian and the English National teams have the actual players and kits. For the other ODI nations, the names bear a vague familiarity to the actual players, but they are all misspelled. The mechanics and the interface for the game is very intuitive and you can get used to it very quickly. This is a game that once you figure out how to play it, it becomes kind of boring because there is no way that the AI can beat you, even with the difficulty at hard.

The graphics are OK, but compared to the graphics of other sports games(American Football, Soccer, Basketball, etc.), International Cricket still has a lot of room for improvement. In general, the game is a solid start, but needs to be a LOT more work put into it to bring it up to comparison to other sports games.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My experience playing this game is decent. Don't have high expectations but for a cricket fan this is really a treat. PS3 users have been really blessed that this game work absolutely fine irrespective of PAL format.

Pros:
- Decent graphics
- Batting: Good shot selection. You can play several shots in the area you intend to play.
- Bowling: Swings/Cut deliveries are available. You can switch sides while bowling as well. Also you can change the field position according to your bowling strategy.
- Fielding: Ready field settings are available to change and select the field quickly.
- Grounds: There are many grounds available in this game, almost from all cricket playing countries.
- Match type: Test and One day matches are available. Minimum you can bowl for 5 overs in a One day match.

Cons:
- Batting (Spoiler): Even a yorker ball can be pulled or hooked to boundry till then you time your shot well. The animation for such a shot is horrible because of the way the ball bounces.
- Batting (Spoiler): To hit fours and sixes to a fast bowler, just hit the loft button as soon as he delivers the ball from his hand. They could have made it better.
- Online gaming: Good that online gaming is available but you won't find any sessions to play with.

This game works well in USA though is of PAL format. I am playing on Sony Bravia HD LCD TV using HDMI connection. I am using AmazonBasics HDMI cable for connecting my PS3 to my TV. Also have tried MediaBridge HDMI cable and the game works absolutely fine with either.

For a Cricket fan this game is a must. You won't regret buying this game.

I am a cricket crazy guy. Every morning, I wake up on cricinfo website, and read everything on it. If I need a break from my technical work, I play a game of stick cricket. I can bowl, bat and field without a cricket ground or ball or bat - in my living room, or while walking on the road or while strolling on the beach. As soon as I purchased my PS3, I always wanted to play cricket on it, and purchased this.

The folks have obtained license only for English and Australian cricketers, which means the names of all cricketers from other nations are misspelt - for instance, Mahendra Dhoni has become Mahata Dhabi.

The gameplay is pretty good - you need to control timing, footwork, and placement very correctly while batting. Similarly, while bowling you can control pace, swing. I like the concept that if you try to bowl too fast, there is a high likelihood of ending with an illegal delivery. The timing comes into play when you are supposed to take catches while fielding. Do the tutorials - they are good!

The concept of confidence level for a batsmen/bowler is very good. For example, if the confidence level is very low (which happens when you are repeatedly beaten), then you need immaculate timing to send a ball to the boundary. On the other hand, if your confidence level is high (which happens you have hit three sixes in a row), you can still hit a six with a slightly-off timing.

There are three levels of difficulty and your timing simply has to be very good to play higher levels of difficulty - otherwise its the same. Because most of us players like to bat more than bowl, we tend to be better batsmen than bowlers, especially in the higher levels.

The graphics and commentary are OK.
