Michael Horsham's text explores the material culture of design in the 1990s; the methodology of design; and the tension between the hand, the eye, and the machine in terms of modern form. The objects are lavishly illustrated, and full technical data given for each. A comprehensive reference section provides biographies of the designers, a list of suppliers and their addresses, and an updated list of design acquisitions at major international museums.
