4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Military Aircraft 2000/2001, April 25, 2000
By
Joris van Boven (Eindhoven, the Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The International Directory of Military Aircraft: 2000/01 (Paperback)
International Directory of Military Aircraft: 2000/2001 is a bi-annually book containing nearly all flying military aircraft of the world. Each type is mentioned with a photo and a column of information. This column contains information about the aircraft type (weight, size, engines, dimensions etc) and about the airforces that use the type. For general aircraft type recognition and background information it is a very usefull book. It can not be used to distinguish between several versions of an aircraft type, due to the fact that only 1 photo is available.

5.0 out of 5 stars The difinitive source for modern military aircraft, December 3, 2001

This review is from: The International Directory of Military Aircraft: 2000/01 (Paperback)
This book is a great resource for any fan of military aviation. I am a freelance aviation photographer and I'll tell you that there are some great pictures in this book along with a wealth of information on over 310 different aircraft. I have been so pleased with the directory ever since their first release in 1996, that I have ordered a copy of their latest edition every two years ever since. In my opinion, this is the best aviation resource for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than Janes pocket guides, February 15, 2003
This review is from: The International Directory of Military Aircraft: 2000/01 (Paperback)
This series of books (to include the Civil Aircraft version) provide much more information on each aircraft than the Janes pocket guides, and is cheaper as well. Information on the aircraft is complete, to include engine specs, cargo capacity, crew, etc.

If there was one thing I could wish for that would make this a perfect five, it would be the indespensible three-way line drawings found in the older Janes pocket books (yet oddly not in the newest version . . .). That said, the photos included in this book are wonderful. Certainly a recommended book for aircraft enthusiasts as well as those needing to ID aircraft or report on capabilities.
