I've been trying to fill in the gaps in my int'l trade knowledge, and this book was not very helpful. I would have expected the authors to define some basic terms, but they didn't and just leapt ahead, sometimes making very confusing jumps between topics.

I bought this book to supplement materials assigned in a law school course on international trade. It was the opposite of helpful. The text is poorly organized, imprecise, verbose, too general, and lacking in citations and references to specific statutory or treaty provisions. For example, see what you learn from this typical passage: "One problem with nontariff trade barriers is that they are so numerous. Intergovernmental negotiations intended to reduce their trade restricting impact is both tedious and difficult. There are continuous attempts through the World Trade Organization to come to grips with additional specific NTB [non-trade barrier] problems." This kind of analysis may be useful for a lay-person or high school student, but it is insufficient for a law student or practitioner. A rare disappointment in the Nutshell series.
