Great set of charge plugs and systems which enables the unit to be charged without the need for computer as was required when first introduced and purchased in Australia.We really can charge in the car as most of our travel is by car and in excess of 400 kms.

The International Essential Kit is great value for Aussie kindle readers as it not only solves the charging problem but also has the versatility of car charging AND international roving. Prompt service and excellent product.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive this item in Australia 2 days (7 days from order to receipt) after I received my Kindle as the latter was shipped by regular mail while the Kindle was shipped Priority Express. It beat the estimated shipping time by over 10 days
The charger is compact and well designed, and having both a car charger and tips for use worldwide will ensure that the Kindle can be used around the world (at least where there is a 3G signal).

I'm giving this four stars because the product itself is high quality and works as advertised, and because the Gomadic Corp's Customer Service is outstanding.

In other words, I'm very pleased with the product and the service.

The ONLY problem is the deisign, and here's what I mean...

When you fit one of the plugs to the adapter, it snaps into place. Once it snaps into place, you cannot pull it off like a normal plug. Rather, there is a secret catch that must be depressed in order to release the plug.

I call it "secret" because it's impossible to see unless you are under farily good lighting. I don't turn on the lights in my office during the daytime because my office has two big windows that let in natural daylight. I can read books, my Kindle, and do all other tasks in this light. The natural daylight is perfectly fine for my everyday tasks.

But Superman himself couldn't see this secret catch in my office without the lights actually turned on, and even then the light would have to hit the adapter just right to see it because it is so precisely integrated.

You see, the adapter is solid black, except for the Gomadic logo on the side of it, which is white. The secret catch is also solid black, and as I said, it is almost impossible to find without very good lighting and fingertip exploration.

Gomadic should IMMEDIATELY resolve this by making the secret catch white or at least putting a white dot, or a white star, or a white SOMETHING on the secret catch. That would solve ALL of the problems on this device.

I actually broke one of the plugs trying to pull it off before I finally discovered the secret catch. Gomadic has responded to me by email immediately and told me they were shipping me a new unit.

You can't beat that. Outstanding Customer Service, and an outstanding product but for the caveat noted above.

Excellent delivery time and all parts needed suitable for Australia. Nice to have AC adaptor rather than just USB charging option.

i thought this was going to be faster but it was just as slow to recharge and the kindle didnt seem to like it.It blanked out it on me

The system looks good on screen but when shipped, at least the one shipped to me, has no connectors to actually connect to the Kindle.
I'm not sure whether this is a shipping mistake or what however I now have an amazing product that I cannot charge when I travel.

I was cautious about buying an eBook reader but after using my Kindle I am converted. The convenience of having a number of books at my fingertips to read whenever I want to is a plus. The Kindle works well and makes for easy reading. To those hanging back on buying, I say go for it!
