This review is from: International Folksongs (Paperback Songs) (Paperback)
Am I ever glad that i ordered this book! 'International folk songs' is a easily acessable compilation of over 160 folk songs from the world over. All are alphabeticaly listed by country of origin and have easy to read music, even for a novice flute player like me! All these songs are quality tunes, most you will already have heard or know of, but there will definately be some new songs to suprise you. This includes traditional songs with guitar tabs, and melody lines from Algeria, Australia, Brazil, Congo, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan and the Netherlands to name a few! I have nothing but praise for this book, it is all I hoped for when ordering, and more! :)

This book has 250 songs for a total of 52 countries, some of whom I've never heard of. This makes for great variety. You also get to learn where these songs originated. For example, I didn't know Kumbaya came from the Congo.
I was glad to find out that most of the songs' notes fall in the range of my Tenor recorder. Be aware that, like the other books in the Hal Leonard Paperback Songs series, this is in the size of a paperback. This hasn't been a problem since the little arms of my music stand can reach (barely) the pages. |
