The best hallmarks book ever!,
This review is from: International Hallmarks on Silver Collected by Tardy (Paperback)
Tardy is *the* standard book for silver hallmarks. Alas, the French company that produced it has gone out of business and it is now virtually impossible to find this book anywhere. The book is organised by country, and has two indexes - an "analytical" (pictorial) index showing the marks grouped together by "subject" (all the bird marks are together, all the crown marks together and so on) and telling you where in the book you will find the full details of that mark, and a second text index which tells you where to find the dog hall marks in the pictorial index. Highly recommended - if you can find a copy!

Good but not great...,

A good reference book but it you really need information regarding silver and their hallmarks save your money and get "The Directory of Gold and Silversmiths: Jewellers and Allied Traders 1838-1914" by John Culme. This is the bible for silver!
