5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best out there...
As far as study bibles go, this is the best that I've used, and I've used many over the years. As a theology student, this particular version of the Word is the best there is for inductive study... I've had my (first edition Multnomah) IISB since its first release and as far as study goes, it's my main bible. For those familiar with the inductive study method, you'll...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good translation, bad construction
I am an M.Div. student who wanted to use the NASB because of its literal translation from the Greek and Hebrew. I love the translation but I do not care for the construction of the IISB by Harvest House. The book itself is too large to fit easily in my bag, the pages are very flimsy (even for Bible pages!), and the corners exhibited wear before I had even used the...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best out there..., May 25, 2000
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
As far as study bibles go, this is the best that I've used, and I've used many over the years. As a theology student, this particular version of the Word is the best there is for inductive study... I've had my (first edition Multnomah) IISB since its first release and as far as study goes, it's my main bible. For those familiar with the inductive study method, you'll appreciate the layout of the text, the extra-wide margins for notes/insights, and the various tables and explanations that are found in the edition. As far as study goes, the NASB is one of the best translations to use as its transliteration stays true to the original languages. Kay Arthur and team have done an outstanding job at putting together a textual tool that, once in the hands of students, is the best there is for said same students to dig into the Word and "feed" themselves. If you're a serious student of the Bible then I cannot recommend highly enough that you get yourself a copy of this bible and learn the Inductive Study Method. You'll never look back and your spiritual life will forever be transformed. Be prepared to enter the Throne Room!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Study Bible, July 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
Kay Arthur has produced a study Bible that draws you directly into the Bible itself. Christians who use the method of study found in this Bible will find themselves growing in their walk with Christ as never before. If you use this Bible you will be freed from over-reliance on commentaries and what others have said about the Word. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bible in Print!, July 26, 2000
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
The most word-for-word, formal-equivalence Bible available today is the New American Standard Bible (NASB). Such scrupulousness to the original text lends itself very well for use as a study Bible. Originally, as a Bible for reading, the language was at times wooden and awkward. The updated version, however, is not quite as wooden-feeling as the 1966 version: its punctuation style is more current style and it uses fewer archaic words (for example, reckoned is now credited and beholds is sees). The NASB is a revision of the American Standard Version (1901), but is even more literal than its predecessor. In the 1966 version, this literalness virtually applied throughout the NASB, except in the use of thou, thee, and thy when addressing God. Neither the Greek, Hebrew, nor Aramaic texts used special pronouns when referring to God. However, in the 1995 version, the NASB does not use thee or thou when referring to God.

Bible scholars recommend the NASB for its accuracy in translating various terms, synonyms and tenses, for its use of articles, and for the way it treats passages about Jesus. Nevertheless, this reviewer considers the NASB the best version for serious reading and Bible study.

In the NASB 1 John 3:17 reads:

But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him? (NASB)

The NASB receives an A in accuracy but only a C in readability.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent Bible, March 14, 2000
By
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
This Bible teaches the user how to study the Word and allow the Bible to interpret itself. It is for the serious person who wants to know the Word and not what others say about it. The maps, concordance, on-page helps, side column references, and other resources are excellent. The only drawback to this Bible is its size, but it is still a must have for serious students.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your own personalized Study Bible!, May 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
What a great Study Bible. Kay Arthur has left the studying where it belongs: on you the reader. Paul's letter to Timothy challenges YOU to "study to show yourselves approved a workman who need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth." Paul didn't challenge someone else to do the work for you! Kay Arthur has allowed you to find new treasures in Scripture for yourself. This Bible leaves wide margins for your notes, so that you can be a student of the Bible on your own. What an incredible idea. This is the best Study Bible on the market right now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bible, December 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
This is the old edition of the Inductive Study Bible which was available in the 1990's. It is better than the new edition for several reasons... (1) There is more writing room in the margins (2) The print is easier to read because of it being larger. These benefits are important when you are creating your own study Bible doing the inductive process. If you can get the old edtion, I would. I have both and know the difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Caution, November 9, 2008
This review is from: International Inductive Study Bible: New American Standard Bible (Hardcover)
The Inductive Study Bible is good for those who desire to learn to exegete (draw out) truth from the Word itself.

A caution, though: I see others post things like not worrying about "what others say", being able to decide what the Word is saying for yourself. There are "others" who have it 100% right, men of God who devote their entire lives to the professional study of the Word; their input (in their writings and sermons) should be used as a check and balance to your own study. Error and heresy starts with misunderstandings of the Scripture and a misapplication of the Scripture.

Learning to study for yourself with this Inductive Study Bible is a first step in a long, difficult and taxing journey of properly and accurately interpreting the biblical text. This is a good beginner's tool, but it is not the end in and of itself.

I own this bible, and Kay Arthur's way of studying the bible is parallel to none. I have learned so much from using this bible in my studies.
The color coding is the way.
