But using this slicer is similar to using a corkscrew--you just cut off the top inch, insert the slicer's serrated edge, and twist the handle until you reach the bottom (the bottom is easy to feel even on your first use). Pull up on the handle, and the entire juicy pineapple pulls free, sliced in a long spiral that leaves the tough core behind. After cutting out the core, use the empty pineapple rind as quite a regal serving container--either for piña coladas (so yummy with fresh pineapple) or as a buffet bowl for the cut-up fruit. You'll wonder how you ever lived without this tool - it is GREAT! The pineapple pulls out in one large piece AND it's uniformly sliced - UNBELIEVABLE!

For even more fun, pour your favorite summer drink into the shell, add a straw (maybe even a silly paper umbrella) and drink a little bit of Hawaii by the pool or on the patio.

For the thrifty, eco-friendly person, cut the shell and scrape out lots of additional juice and bits of pineapple to use in your favorite smoothies, marinades, and sauces. Never lug a heavy can of pineapple juice home again. Best simple tool since the nut cracker!
