I have read the book in one day... aside from the pep talk and a sophomoric poem on page 23, I fail to see how this book has helped or can help anyone? unless you have no clue at all of the U.S system, there isn't any info. in this book that isn't simple common sense or on google!
Here is an abridged list of what you'll get 1-Definition of an IMG-- do you need the def. and the stats of what makes up the U.S health care system? 2-The Role of IMG's in the U.S work force.. primary care in short supply is the gist of it.. it doesn't and hasn't influenced the outcome of securing an invitation or a residency.. it is an economics issue.. one being down doesn't necessarily denote that the offers will come a pouring.. 3- Success principles to Enter a residency Analyze, release fears, get organized, goal setting, mindset for success and message of hope and persistence.. again, perhaps at $53 it is cheaper than a session with your mental health provider but really I personally fail to see how this will help you as an IMG do you need an ego boost or a residency? 4- Eligibility criteria for the ECFMG.. you honestly don't need a book to tell you this.. in fact a complete waste for someone currently looking to secure a residency spot.. any residency spot if you are stuck back trying to pass your exams then you have no use for this book, and if you are looking for a residency then you have no use for this info.! 5- selecting programs.. now we are talking right? Wrong! there aren't actually any programs mentioned save for one as an ex. so now you must set out on the dangerous path to purchase a dated list from equally questionable sites on the web. The book is 179 pgs counting index and definition of terms... I am really very disappointed, I am an IMG who is a U.S citizen, I was hoping this books would be a booster, but if you need a weekly dose of common sense then by all means purchase the book.. I'll be selling it on ebay for 1/4 of the price so look for it there if you are really curious as to content.. I so hate to self-immolate and be the first to give it an honest review at the price of some financial loss when I am already drowning in med school debt... but I have reached the end of my tethers with folks taking advantage of those down, depressed and looking for a sliver of hope.. I know those of you in medicine who have passed your exams, didn't get this far by being stupid, and I found this book insulting to my intelligence! best wishes!

The first time I arrived in the U.S, I asked myself where am I gonna find the appropriate information to get through the medical licensure process? Then I found this extraordinary book ,full of valuable explanations and advice for helping any IMG to well prepare for the USMLE exams and also be ready to get over the application and interviews processes. This book is very helpful, and it guided me to secure my residency position this academic year 2010. I would recommend this wonderful book to anyone who intends to get into a residency position here in the U.S.A. The authors did a great job by writing those hints and recommendations in order for any IMG to fulfill his/her dream.

For all the IMGs this is a "must have".
In my opinion the book it is an excellent source of information about the application and especially the interview. During the process, you will find that it is really important the way you present documents, like the personal statement and CV, also how you communicate with the programs and prepare for interview questions. This book is much better than the First Aid for the MATCH, regarding these aspects. It will guide you during each step of the way for your success. I and two other IMGs credit a large part to OUR 2010 MATCH in I.M. and Psych. to Dr. Belibi, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG!

Not really helpful,

Don't bother buying this book. It won't increase your chance to land a residency spot. Better information is available online in various forums. Most important thing is to have a partner who is also preparing for residency. So, in summary, no need for buying this book.

The Best IMG Book,
This review is from: The International Medical Graduate's Best Hope (Paperback)
This is one of the few IMG guides that really live up to its name. I am so glad that I bought this book. I have read it several times already. I urge every IMG to buy this book. It serves as a GPS for us who are lost in the Match world.
The chapters about CVs, Personal Statement, Letters of Recommendation and Interview are fantastic. CVs, Personal Statements, Letters of Recommendations can really make huge impression on program director and will go a long way in getting an interview. And the interview section is excellent. My wife used the tricks given in the book and has landed an observership at a local hospital. The principals given in the books really work. The book is well organized and easy to understand. It is by IMGs for IMGs. It is my opinion that this book is a must buy for every IMG. Buy the book, read it several times, and start applying the principals. You will see the difference it makes.

a "must have" book.. a great book. I am very grateful to the writer, he covered everything to get the residency from usmle test to eras to interview to match and post match.. when to call the program and when to send emails...what to say what to dress...what to say, what to ask, what not to say...
my recommendation is no to go through the eras without this book

I bought this book after much anticipation, and it did not let me down. Dr. Belibi, "Dr. Rock" has been helping IMG's for quite some time, and all in the online community were waiting for the day he would publish his work for the masses. That time has come. The book includes everything you need to secure a residency spot in the United States. It has "secrets" that few know, yet MOST do not. It truly lives up to it's title as an International Medical Graduate's BEST HOPE. In his strive for excellence, he has risen to the occasion and written an easy to follow guide covering all aspects of the process. Your hours upon days of searching on the internet for answers that are so hard to come by are long behind you. This book is the answer. Whether you are a seasoned gunner ready to rock and apply to the hardest of specialties, or an IMG that has hit hard times, but still strive for excellence because of your knowledge that medicine is where you belong..this book speaks to you all. My recommendation..Pick it up..The investment is NOTHING compared to the lifetime of payback..
