A mixed review,
By
This review is from: Light & Sound Fire Truck (Toy)
I have mixed feelings about this toy. In addition to the firetruck (which really looks more like a rescue vehicle) I purchased other Mighty World toys for my 4 year old for Christmas around this same fire theme so I might be reviewing more than one. While my son really likes the truck it has way too many removable parts. I feel like the company is trying to make this a construction toy when it really isn't. I would buy Playmobil if that is what you are looking for. There is a kit to change the height of the truck to raise it a little bit. An incredible amount of work for little return. Pieces come off the truck for no apparent reason. There are alot of small parts, some very useful and interesting but others have no real use. There is an oxygen tank but no way for a firefighter to wear it. Many of the small pieces that are meant to be held by the figure are impossible to get into the hand of the figure (by an adult as well as a child). The wheels come off as they do not snap into place. The firefighters all have mean expressions on their faces and are all men (maybe because they have no hair as it can't be accomodated under the helmet). I would not recommend this toy if you have younger kids in the house. Even if you put away the small pieces there are way too many removable pieces or pieces that can be unintentionally pulled off the truck. All that aside, my son loves the truck and plays with it often.

Too difficult for a 3 yr old. Parts not durable.,

I can hardly believe this toy is slated for a [...] Two intelligent adults couldn't figure out how to change the suspension feature. We found the parts too delicate, too breakable and too difficult to function even for an adult. The doors on the truck are way too difficult to open, having no purchase on the handle and the hood requires a sort of pulling-out and swinging-up motion to open which is too subtle for a young child. Also the tools are hard to fit into the firemen's hands.

I purchased this item for my 4, almost 5 year old. It is way over his head...not surprisingly as it is almost over mine. As stated in another review, this looks more like a rescue vehicle than a firetruck...also...the multiple pieces that come with this toy make it that much more of an advanced toy...not really for a 3 year old. The manufacter recommended age is 36 months to 8 years. I would say more like 6 to 8 years and no less. I almost feel like it is a collectors item that should be sitting on a shelf...so you don't lose it's parts...but I do not think the manufactuer's intended it to be so. Unless your child is a perfectionist and super detailed...this really isn't the toy for them (in my opinion, of course).

This was one of best things our grand son received for his 5th birthday. He loves to play with it. He has a very creative mind and the stories he makes up are fun to watch and listen to.

I got this for my son's 3rd birthday and he loves it. I didn't find anything complicated when opening the package as I didn't change the suspension...honestly, there is no need to. It's perfectly playable upon opening. My kids don't even know that you can do that I haven't mentioned it with this or any other Might World stuff we own. I haven't had any problems with doors not opening or falling off (though I do have an issue with a door on a different MW vehicle). My children are used to playing with Playmobil which comes with many more little pieces so these were quite a nice size. No they don't fit perfectly in the figure's hands, but my kids didn't seem to mind. This has dropped on our driveway and has gone down a flight of our wooden steps and so far it seems just as durable as all our other toys. No damage was done. These are our first experiences with Mighty World and I do plan on purchasing more :)

My first son received this as a gift at age 2 and loved it. It is very detailed and came with many small parts which I bagged and save for a time when he was old enough. He played very well with this toy and it held up just fine until he got a younger brother. My other son is just not as careful with toys and over time parts fell off and were broken or lost until I threw the whole truck out(saved the accessories). Over all this truck was loved so much now that my second son is a little more careful I intend to purchase it again for them. We also have other sets in the series and even I like to play with them. If you have kids who treat their toys well get it and if your worried about the parts put them aside until your child is able to care for them. Also wether the parts fit in the hand or not you can still play with them it's pretend, my "my little ponies" couldn't hold their accessories and Barbie often had a hard time too!- as a note when we did first go to jack up the truck I noticed a part missing and I emailed the company, with no proof of receipt or money they mailed me the part and an extra guy even when I said it was likely me who lost it.

I purchased this for my daughter as her first fire truck and am very disappointed in the quality! It looked incredibly detailed and I was excited about all the doors that open and close on the fire truck. However, I had not even gotten the wire ties (holding it to the cardboard) off the truck when I noticed a piece (holding the hose on) was already broken. A hinge on the one of the doors keeps popping out and I'm afraid to press too hard to put it back in for fear of breaking it. The ENTIRE truck is made of VERY CHEAP PLASTIC...it is as delicate as the thin plastic of model airplane kits. The hood won't go up either, although it specifically states in the directions you can open it to see the engine. Also, my daughter got frustrated very quickly because the fireman that came in the set hardly fits in the cab...even I have trouble getting him in there. His helmet does come off but don't be fooled by the picture on the box...an additional hairpiece is NOT provided (although shown on the box) so if your child does take the helmet off, he is bald with a large dent in the top of his head. I thought I was getting a great price at $39.00 but really regret not buying something that will last. This vehicle lasted 10 minutes in our home and that was even before my daughter had begun playing with it.

My son loves these toys. In fact, at the age of seven, he really does not play with many toys, he is always doing sports. Yet, this is one set he will still sit with for awhile.

Good News - our 2 year old grandson loved it.Bad News - the light bar didn't work. My son will have to go out and find 3 "watch" style batteries. The arms came off the fireman. And turn signals were able to be pulled off the grill and on and on. Too many SMALL PIECES. I sure wish that the listing had an AGE APPROPRIATE on it. (I think that's an Amazon issue.) I liked it because the doors opened and the storage bins opened. I couldn't figure out (in 5 minutes) how to make the ladder work. I wish there was a basic model without all the tiny removable pieces to get only the the "good news" about the product.

Got this for my 7 year old, it was perfect. If your kid is the type that likes to pull things apart and put them back together this truck is perfect. On getting it we both had no idea how many parts could actually be removed, as he started striping it down it became clear that this is more of a replica than just a toy. He really enjoyed the challenge of reassembling it. BTW something I don't see metioned in the reviews is that the actual construction is pretty darn good. It's a quality made item but I agree it's not for children under 7 or 8.
