I sorted the cards into 15 simple expressions and into complex expressions. The tiles are placed on the board and the children draw cards and either match the faces as we discuss the feeling the picture is feeling and when they have felt the same. Or I make the face and the children put a marker on the face they think I am feeling. Or I say a feleing word and the children put a marker on the picture they think represents the feeling. For advanced group, the children draw the card, make the face, and their peers put the marker on the face, and I facilitate. The children love seeing me make funny faces. This game is excellent for teaching chidlren to identify feelings in themselves and others. One group had an interesting discussion about if one can smile and frown at the smae time - we couldn't! Making the faces helped us feel the expressions. It is by far the best tool I have for helping chidlren, espeically those on the Autism Sppectrum, to recognize facial expressions.

The caveats: There needs to be more markers - I use additional markers from other games to include more children. Also, the children in the game are Caucasian - and in clinical practice I strive for cultural competence which means including a variety of races and ethnicities in my materials. I also replaced the little mirror with a larger one so it is easier for the children to see the faces they are making.

How much fun is it to make faces with kids! Also a great excuse for adults to be silly! I purchased this game for my autistic friend/child, and we are all having fun!

This is a good game for young kids on the Autism spectrum needing to learn facial expressions. The game pieces and board are colorful and sturdy; the rules to the game are easy to understand and explain to kids. However, I wish the face cards were actual pictures of people's facial expression (like the cover) instead of drawings. Reason being, some of the face cards (drawings) are pretty similar to each other so that made it hard for the kids, and me included, to make out different facial expression! But there are a lot of face cards included in the game so we would pass on a face card that looked similar. Either way, I'm glad that I bought it and that we got to play with it.

My three kids all love this game. The 7 and 5 year old really get into it, and the 3 year old just makes funny faces. Easy to pick up. Only warning: the display cards on the front of the box are duplicates, so don't include them in real play.

My 3 year old niece instantly loved this game. The learning curve is really low and the characters with funny faces are bound to delight any kid! Highly recommended!
