This has been a great textbook so far. I didn't know anything about international politics and it has done a really good job explaining everything. It's easy to read and gives very good explanations and provides real life examples for everthing. What makes it a good textbook above and beyond so many others is that it is actually enjoyable to read. The stories are interesting and well-written, the style is friendly, and it provides many interesting and funny anecdotes. It also provides websites that connect to what is being discussed, and the websites have so far turned out to be interesting. Some of the websites are more serious and some are more fun. For instance, when the book was mentioning a theory about comparing humans to animals, the website was Jane Goodall's website and it told how to get to the part that makes comparisons between chimps and humans. There is also a great website in connection to the book that provides quizzes and activities to help in understanding the main points.

As great as an educational political book is going to get. It is easy to read and understand and offers insight into a variety of topics. Additionally, it has a website that you can visit to not only take practice tests but also take part in debates. Made learning a lot more fun.

Liberal ranting...,

This review is from: International Politics on the World Stage (Paperback)
The "textbook" is more of an American bashing session. This is a opinion paper with pieces of factual information thrown in between liberal rants and raves, not an objective textbook. In the first Chapter alone... "Paying taxes to fund your country's military forces is yet another way that world politics affects you economically. U.S. defense spending, for example, is $515 billion for fiscal year (FY) 2009. This amount is 20% of the U.S. budget and equals about $1,700 per person in the United States." "a former Defense Department official explains, that to a degree, "Both the administration and Congress . . . view defense as a federal jobs program." 3 "One such billboard showed a photograph of a hurricane swirling toward Florida accompanied by the words, "Global warming equals worse hurricanes. George Bush just doesn't get it." "War is a special concern for college-age adults because they are of prime military age. Of the American troops killed during the Vietnam War, 84% were ages 18 to 22. The average age of U.S. soldiers killed in the Iraq War beginning in 2003 is higher than it was in Vietnam, in part because U.S. forces in Iraq are part of an all-volunteer military, whereas many U.S. soldiers in Vietnam were draftees. Still, young adults bear the brunt of American casualties in Iraq." "From a certain perspective, those who were disappointed with the results had cause to blame young adults for Kerry's defeat. Young adults (ages 18 to 24) favored Kerry over Bush by a substantial margin, in contrast to older American voters, who favored Bush. Yet, in the United States, as in most other countries, young adults are much less likely to vote than are older adults (Patterson, 2005; Phelps, 2004). This voting gap makes a difference."

I needed books for college and did not have very long to wait. I received my books ordered in a timely manner. I had never ordered anything online and was not sure about how secure this would be but it was totally worth. After I had compared prices with other ways to purchase I realized I found the best deal. I would not hesitate to order books or products this way again if I need anything.
