It is a very fun game. But it takes a very long time to get used to. It mainly uses the "A" "B" and "Z" buttons. I think that you need a lot of things to play it. Like exspansion pack, rumble pack and something else I can not think of right now. It is stupid that you need to win medals in every event just so you can get, breaststroke, triple jump, shooting, and the vault. But other wise it is a very fun game with very good graphincs and easy controls but I is hard so remember if you are a Nintendo 64 beginner I do not recommend it but if you are experienced I highly highly recomend it.Thanks SAL

International Track and Field 2000 is one of the best games that Konami has made! The graphics are very good, and the events are very realistic. It's also not one of the sports games that you do for three or four hours and then beat. This one takes a while, but unlike some, it's fun and time-consuming. You should definately get this game. Just one note that you might want to know. To unlock the other events (Triple Jump, Vault, Breaststroke, and Skeet Shooting) you have to get all medals in the other events in trial mode.

I'll start off by saying this is a great game. Competing as an Olympian doing many many events from the 100 M dash, to javelin, to swimming, to weightlifting. Just to name a few. There are four events you need to unlock in order to play them. It is pretty hard to unlock all four new events, but can be worth it.

P.S. (Tiny spoiler alert) I don't know why the guy on the cover is holding a baton. Because there is no baton race in this game.

There have been fewer games that have punished my fingers as much as "International Track & Field 2000". It's a bizarre mix of party game and group therapy. The more players, the merrier. You see, with more people, you can some exciting competitions to see who's the best athlete in video gaming. But you'll also have some events where you and other players will just pant & sigh in disbelief after the game has just kicked your tail.

"International Track & Field 2000" includes about a dozen events for you to play. Half of them can be divided into the button-mashing category, where you will press buttons as fast as possible to win racing events like the 100m Dash, 100m Hurdles, or 100m Freestyle Swimming. The other half include heavy button-mashing, but also throw in some timing coordination, like High Jump or Hammer Throw. In this latter category, players will usually have to button mash for about 5 seconds, and then time some button presses to master their jump or throw or hurdling.

Okay, so let's get the bad stuff out of the way now.
This game is hard, DAMN HARD! This is an old-school game with a "modern" presentation. My least favorite event has got to be Weight Lifting, where it took TWO people to just survive one clean and jerk life. Once it came time to do another lift, we were screwed! Aside from the difficulty, there isn't much to do in this game but to test your skills. As fun as it is, there isn't much to unlock, plus single-player gaming can get a tad boring. "International Track & Field 2000" was designed to be a multiplayer game, which makes sense, because groups can often overlook a game's inherent flaws.

But if you're a patient and/or hardcore gamer, then there's a lot to like about this game. The character models look very good even almost after a decade. The animations are smooth and realistic, and the N64's polygon levels won't surprise anyone who still plays the console's videogames. The music is acceptable, and is suitably absent when the games begin. In fact, the crowd and PA announcer sound pretty good, making this game feel more authentic than most sports games this old.

And the gameplay --- while excruciating to the novice (like me) --- is still very fun. Single players will have some fun, but I strongly suggest getting at least another person to play with. I usually dislike multiplayer modes, but sports titles were born for this.

"International Track & Field 2000" was originally released as a rental-only videogame, which makes sense. Unless you're a huge fan of party games, sports games, or old-school button-mashing... this isn't worth going out of your way to play. A rental was a very fair approach to playing this videogame back in 2000. Konami isn't likely to release this game again, so a lot of people are selling this for an insane amount of money.

Trust me, buy cheap. It's better to be pleasantly surprised than being trapped by someone else's nostalgia. $10 or less is my recommended price.

This game rocks the house whit it parting baby! Its so fun i brought it to skool with me so no one could steal it at my house! I am soo happy i got it! if you dont buy it your a loser and has no taste in video games! All critics are cynicall so dont listen to them and just ignore them! THEY EVEN THOUGHT BUCK BUMBLE WAS BETTER THAN ZELDA ONCE! SO BUY THIS GAME OR YOU STINK!
