If you want to teach someone or learn about the Internet in the least amount of time then this video is for you. This video is under an hour long but it covers everything, like how to connect to the Net, e-mail, the Web, Chat, Downloading, Virus protection, kid protection, mailing lists and newsgroups. I got tired of trying to explain the Internet to my parents so I bought this video and watched it with them. I have been on the Net a couple of years now and I even learned some new stuff. I can see why this tape is being used at Penn State University. My parents thought the tape was great and so do I. I highly recommend it.

I was suprised at how much I learned from this video. Being a newbie I wanted to learn more about cyberspace but I didn't feel like reading a long book on it. This tape covers all the bases and gives you a good overview of the Internet. I especially like the fact that the box has a time indexed table of contents so I can quickly find the subject matter I would like to review, for instance how to join a mailing list, download and install software or protect your pc from viruses. Plus, the tape pays for itself by showing you how to get FREE software, free e-mail and free internet access. I recommend The Internet for Beginners to anyone wanting to learn more about the Net.

I watched your video "The Internet for Beginners" in my computer class at Penn State Harrisburg. I felt that the video was very informative for the true beginner but the pace of the video was quite fast. I know there is a lot of material to cover and so little time, I just felt that I would have to watch it again to retain more insight. The length of the video fit the purpose but as I stated the pace was too fast. However, I did enjoy the video. Even as an avid Internet user I did learn some new interesting information. In conclusion, I feel that a beginner would benefit form watching your video and enjoy surfing the web with confidence.

To give this video a review I would have to start out by saying that it is better than most computer application videos I have seen. Most videos are too fast and long in words. This video was set at a pace that an amateur can follow. My major concern about the video was that it was to be at a beginner level. I feel that it was not, it was set at an amateur level and should be advertised as such. The only thing that I would add to this video is at each major learning point, a marker to tell the learner to stop the video and try out the new learning point. On a rating scale of 1:10 with 10 being the best, I would give this video a 7. I however will never suggest a video for anyone trying to learn the Internet. My suggestion is that each learner sits with someone and learns in a one on one situation.

I found the Internet for Beginners to be very informative. I liked how this video explained technical jargon in layman's terms. Before this video I never knew that there were different options for Internet hookup besides your computer. Not only did this video teach you how to travel through the Net, it also gave you phone numbers for service providers that can be of great help. After viewing this video I feel a little more comfortable in using chat rooms. I never really knew how to use chat rooms before, so I was never really comfortable conversing in them. ****I also give this video great ratings because it shows you how to keep your kids safe while surfing the Net.**** While I had some internet knowledge before viewing this video, it has showed me how to better use the web as a search tool. Before I was intimidated by the Internet, now I feel a little more comfortable.

I found the video to be geared towards beginners at the elementary level. I feel it was to simplified for the college level. I found it to be outdated, difficult to follow due to the fast pace of the information covered. I also found it to be rather lengthy, to the point of zoning. I would recommend it to a child, but not to an adult.

This video has it all. "The Internet for Beginners" is aimed at the beginner and gives a great overview of the Internet. The video starts off describing what the Internet is and the different ways to get on it. With on-screen demonstrations is describes the Web, how to e-mail, mailing lists, newsgroups, chat, parental controls, virus protection and downloading software. The tape is 42 minutes long but it didn't seem that long because the video is information packed and flows from one subject to the next smoothly. On the back of the box you will find a time indexed table of contents that allows you to quickly find the subject you would like to review and fast forward or rewind to it. This is helpful since there are a lot of web addresses and phone numbers given. The narrator is obviously a professional and is easy to listen to. I am not a beginner but I learned a few things from this video and I would recommend it to anyone from 10 years old to 90.

The video was very educational. I, my self, am a beginner to a computer, so this video helped me out. The video did go kind of slow, but the time frame of the video was good. The video was easy to follow and showed you step by step how to do every application that the video covered. The video also defined the computer terms that it used ,so you weren't lost.

The video that we saw was very informational and the content contained information for people who were unfamiliar with the Internet. The length of the video was goo considering the narrator ran through each step. I personally found the video to be interesting. Mainly because I am a beginner but, also because people tend to overlook a lot of information. The video was definitely easy to follow and I also recomment that all Pubpl 441 students get the opportunity to view the video. It was a nice opportunity or way to learn about the Internet.
