I really, really, REALLY didn't like this book. Unmitigated and continuous plugs to buy his products. This is not in fact a how to... it is a commercial.
Too bad, because on about every 10th page he has something useful to say. It's just that on the other nine pages are "here's the links to buy my products."

I really, really, REALLY didn't like this book. Unmitigated and continuous plugs to buy his products. This is not in fact a how to... it is a commercial.
Too bad, because on about every 10th page he has something useful to say. It's just that on the other nine pages are "here's the links to buy my products."
I noticed there is no "search inside this book." Smart move. Here are some examples he wouldn't want you to see.

Pg 47-48: Two pages devoted to 'Buy the product Success Voyeur.'
Page 151: Blog announcement that he will answer questions.
Page 162: The winner of a contest.
Pages 174-175: Sign up for his blog so he can send you special announcements.
Page 192-193 the entire "blog post" is an offer to sell two of the authors domains.
Page 251-252: another two pages devoted to asking his blog readers to ask questions.
I'm serious folks, page after page of filler copy about what he is going to write on a blog, what he has already written on a blog, what he once wrote on a blog. What a waste of resources.

When I first discovered James Brausch's blog, I went back and re-read all his previous blog posts. After that, I started a new blog which has become very successful, and I started creating my own products.

James is so inspirational and makes everything very simple. He shows you what is important in starting your internet business. Other writers try and make everything confusing so you will think they are so smart. It takes a truly smart person to make everything simple so you can follow it!

You could read everything in this book on James' blog, but why would you? It is very hard to read a blog from beginning to end, because of all the scrolling around, going from page to page trying to find the beginning, etc. Instead, it is all here for you in easy to read format in this book.

If you want to start your own profitable internet business, I highly recommend that you buy this book. It will tell you what to focus on and will save you countless months or even years of floundering around. Follow what James says, and you are sure to make money.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to Build a Successful Internet Business, October 12, 2007
This review is from: The Internet Business Book: Volume No. 1 (Paperback)
I recently finished reading my copy of The Internet Business Book. This book is sweet...literally...because I spilled some honey on it. But seriously, it looks a little intimidating at first with 340 pages but it's actually easy to read. I finished it in about 4 hours over a few days. The timing of it's release was uncanny as I had just started going back through the older posts on the Internet Business Blog and found some great information.

I made a note to keep going through the old posts and even to print them out and put them in a binder. A few days later The Internet Business Book was announced. It is a compilation of posts to the Internet Business Blog so it saved me the trouble of printing out posts and it's much more convenient to read it all in a book.

The book is full of actionable information...too much to list in a single post but here is one example. On page 203, blog carnivals are mentioned. I had never even heard of a blog carnival. But this sounded like an idea worth trying so I immediately Googled "blog carnivals" and found a site listing thousands of blog carnivals.

I found a few relevant to my blogs and before I knew it, I was part of a real estate investing blog carnival. I'll be hosting a carnival soon. That's another way of driving traffic to blogs that I was not aware of but I can tell you it works. The book is full of useful information so if you're serious about learning how to make money online, read it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money., April 5, 2008
This review is from: The Internet Business Book: Volume No. 1 (Paperback)
Here's my issue... The book is simply a "print out" of his blog, including a bunch of his "24 hour specials!" that just pad the book to make it seem big. Problem is once you get the book, those 24 hour specials were from last year and totally irrelevant.

You're better off just going to his blog and digging through his archives if you're looking for some good stuff because his books are about a year behind in blog print-outs.

Plus, by going to his blog, I noticed he was bribing readers to come to Amazon and puff up his ratings here. That's not exactly a sterling endorsement of his own products - you'd want them to be rated on their own merits.

Finally, there's plenty of other blogs and books that are better suited to teaching you what you really need to know rather than heckle you into buying his products all the time, feeding a self-serving cycle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you James for the $100.000 so far, November 26, 2007
This review is from: The Internet Business Book: Volume No. 1 (Paperback)
James Brausch is responsible for multiplying my business, mostly by following the free advises on his blog and copying his approaches which sometimes totally contradict to what other "gurus" preach.

I didn't like his book in the beginning. I thought it has little thread in it and didn't really teach much. Some posts had no educational value at first sight. Then I realized what James is really doing with this book. He's showing by example how EXACTLY to build Internet business from scratch to a million dollar empire, step by step. Read the instructions - but more than that - read between the lines and copy what James does and you'll have a empire too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's Bust Some Myths..., November 9, 2007

I like James. I like him most for his unconventional perspective on life and business. This comes through loud and clear in his new book.

Although the book is a collection of blog posts, it is highly readable. What's more, it's packed with tested how-to information for building a thriving Internet business. Much of his advice runs contrary to the run-of-the-mill stuff you'll read online. For instance, James reveals...

* The truth about the long copy vs. short copy debate.
* Why split-testing isn't all it's cracked up to be.
* The right way to drive thousands of visitors to your web site.
* Why you should avoid forums at all costs.
* And more...

I like seeing the progression of James's thought as he educates his readers. This isn't some book he wrote based on what he thought his students needed; it was written based on what he knew his students needed. You'll see what I mean when you read the book.

If you're at all interested in building a successful Internet business, I highly recommend you get (and keep) a copy of this book. Oh yeah, and do what it says.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Great In A Browser -- But Awesome In Print!, October 26, 2007

You can read every word of this book (with the exception of the Forward, which was written for the book by renowned copywriter Michel Fortin) at JamesBrausch.com and it won't cost you a cent. In fact, if you've never read anything by James Brausch before, I recommend that you head over to his blog, start with the first post, and start reading BEFORE you purchase this book.

Nevertheless, I'm giving this book the highest rating possible and STRONGLY recommend that you purchase a copy now, along with the rest of the books in this series as they are released (James says that are in the works).

My reason for this recommendation is simple: James' message doesn't come through as strongly on his blog as it does in his book. From the start of the Forward you realize that this isn't just another book full of opinions and guesses about how to market and build an Internet business. Instead, James backs up his statements (not "opinions") with the results of actual studies he conducted. He also shares the results of cold, hard statistics with you as appropriate. There's no guessing here; James only tells you what works for him based on his compulsive desire to "get it right".

In other words, what jumps out at you when you read the book is that this isn't another book full of marketing opinions pulled from discussion forums, random blogs, and e-courses written by people who frequent the former. Instead, James tells you what to do by sharing the results of his actual statistical analysis and testing, which he conducted to aid his own business. Put another way, James tells you what actually works because he's put it to use in his own successful business, and it's all wrapped up into one neat book, ready for you to read. The only thing you need to add is your "action" by applying what's in this book to your Internet business.

So take that first "application step" now -- and order this book.

Thanks for listening,
Tom

5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks James, February 26, 2008
This review is from: The Internet Business Book: Volume No. 1 (Paperback)
I have actually been reading James's blog since it started but had forgotten that in the beginning of his blog he has some very valuable insights about link color, back ground color, and additional information that will assist any beginner with setting up their own site. His book puts all this information in one place, and is a very easy read.
