This book includes LOTS of good basic information about the way Internet Explorer Administration works and gives a thorough understanding of the things needed to pass the IEAK5 exam. However, some of the information appears to be based on early versions of IEAK. But, there is still lots of good stuff here - and it is easy reading. Using this book, along with the Transcendars, should be enough to both pass the exam and get a good understanding of the many characteristics of Internet Explorer 5 and the Internet Explorer Administration Kit.

I enjoyed the book, very thorough review coverage. I disagree with the unfavorable review, I read the book with the labs and passed the exam without any difficulty. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the test engine, it wasn't as good as some of the commercial prep exams, but, the book itself was great it my opinion.

If you want to pass the 70-080 IEAK 5.0 Exam, this book is the tool. I personally read this book from front to back. The layout is great, and the interaction with the CD helps alot too. The CD includes some testing software that cooresponds to the different sections of the book, what you need to read to figure out where the problems are, and either a quiz mode or study mode. The author shows great knowledge on the subject, and there is alot of hands-on excersises. In my list, this is one of the top.

I found the book itself alright to read. It's general enough so that you HAVE to use the software and I think that important if you really want to learn something. Furthermore, there are a lot of labs and critical thinking problems which are meant to really challenge your knowledge of the IEAK5. If you want to just pass the test get the EXAM CRAM book. If you want to learn how it really work get this book.

On the other hand, I have to agree with previous reviewers that the Beachfront Quizzer should be renamed as a BeachedWhale. It's absolutely horrible. In Study Mode there is a series of 10 consecutive questions where the diagrams are obviously mis-referenced. DID ANYBODY TEST THIS THING? IDG should take heed of who they partner with. Furthermore, after sending an email about the aforementioned problem to their tech support, I have not yet received an answer.

Beachfront says that it'll reimburse you if you don't pass the test. I just wonder how much faith I would put into that statement since they don't seem to care much about the people who most need it and want to improve it. A simple is all it takes.

IDG should take better heed of who they partner with. Afterall, a company of it's size and reputation should do a little quality control from time to time.

I would like to say thank you for getting this book out in print, it is the ONLY book on the IEAK5 that I could find and I had been waiting since late last year for MSPress to come out with something in print and they STILL don't have a product (except the online course).

Read the book cover and cover and easily passed the exam. Author is excellent, well spoken and very detailed. Enjoyed the book. Beach Front Quizzer is fairly bad, but, the book makes up for it

The book is very large, but, covers all the bases. One of the labs asks you to send an e-mail to the author and he responded to me personally. Overall a good book.

I took the IE4 exam before using the sybex book. I saw this book for IE5 and thought I would try it for the new test. I really liked the book, the author speaks to the subject well, good, thorough information. As a trainer, I read a lot of material, this is one of the best I have read yet. The beachfront quizzer needs a lot of help, but, the book is well worth the money I think, Thanks !

The book was easy to read with lots of diagrams to assist you while building kits. The questions at the end of the chapters were too easy, and some conflicted what the book said. An example of one error can be found on page 190, it says a corporate admin can use multiple floppy disk - yet on page 218 the diagram states the opposite - which is it guys? Overall the errors are few, unlike some of the competition. I would recommend this book for those taking the IEAK test. The only down side as some have mentioned is that the Beachfront Quizzer stinks. The diagrams are out of order and the questions are really basic. Don't rely on them for the test!
