Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 7 Up-Students interested in computers and looking for an exciting career in the growing world of telecommunications will find this book most helpful. Beginning with a brief history of the Internet, the book then presents a wide variety of hi-tech jobs, including video-game designers, programmers, analysts, consultants, developers, entrepreneurs, journalists, researchers, and more. Each chapter begins with a small chart that details necessary courses, personal skills, work environment, education level, salary, certification, and job outlook followed by informative narrative descriptions of each topic for each specific career. Students will find this title to be accessible, useful, and thorough.

From the Publisher

All our authors adhere to an over-arching pedagogical method. In other words, DDC books don't just inform, they carefully and quickly teach. That's why our texts are successful in the corporate market, but are also used by more than 10,000 schools and colleges across the country. John Visaggi, President of DDC summarizes, "You learn faster because you read less. Unlike our competitors' texts, we get you onto the information super-highway without making you first dig through an information Suez Canal." --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars I buy the book for others!, July 22, 1997

This review is from: The Internet (Hardcover)
The Internet is a great, illustrated guide to using the Internet. It covers every major piece of software from web browsers, to email programs, news, ftp and more. Most important, it doesn't explain each function of the software, as a manual does, and it avoids the long-winded explainations and anecdotes a Dummies book includes. To the point and very effective. I can't find it at my Borders store, so I order one here for each of my clients. (We are an Internet marketing agency...most clients are new to the web.
