Details ways to catch hackers and limit their access. Vital coverage provided for all Internet and private host sites. CD-ROM includes software from Black Hole allowing users to build their own firewall. Covers Internet and Network Security.
One of the book's highlights is a fine chapter on defining a network policy. Coauthor Chris Hare is a contributor to SysAdmin magazine, and it shows. This section feels like it was written for real-world network administrators, whether beginning or experienced. There are some weaker points, including an introduction to TCP/IP and Unix basics with too many details for the beginner and too few for the expert. But these flaws are more than offset by the depth of information you'll find on the book's core subjects. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Best suited for an intermediate network administrator.,

If you have already read TCP/IP Illustrated Vol 1, don't waste your time with this book. It had a useful chapter about access lists on Ciscos, but other than that I found it to be a very long (410 pages) of review material.
