Book Description

2nd ed
This is an updated and expanded edition of a comprehensive guide to the Internet designed especially for kids and their parents. The book also acts as a tutorial on how to use the Internet effectively as a family. It also includes a "Large Countries" section, with information on hundreds of countries around the world. The "Parenting and Family" listings is moved to the appendix, making the book strictly kid-oriented, but giving parents the information they need to be more effective parents.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

We all know how fast new pages are going up on the World Wide Web. Students who need reliable, intelligible information, will do fine with the second edition of this fat, sassy, and useful Net directory. Whether students are researching Japanese table manners, carnivorous plants, or the Latvian embassy, they'll be able to locate their subject matter of choice with this book. There are enough relevant sites in this energetic volume to satisfy the most curious of young scholars.

From Library Journal

This reference work for kids has contributions from moms, librarians (Polly is the previous author of this column), teachers, and, of course, kids. The second edition includes 3400 resources, all annotated and frequently illustrated with hotlists that direct readers to sites for homework help, games, cartoons, preschoolers, and much more. Expanded from the first edition is a feature called "Postcards from the Net," which gives a behind-the-scenes look at favorite sites, and a brand new section called "Countries of the World," which offers kid-type information, such as the national dog of Korea and wedding customs in distant countries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best kids' directory AND troubleshooting guide!, June 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Internet Kids & Family Yellow Pages (2nd Ed) / The Internet Kids and Family Yellow Pages (2nd Ed) (Paperback)
The Internet Kids & Family Yellow Pages is a must own for every parent, librarian, teacher and net-ready kid. The selections and descriptions invite exploration. The Web introduction and problem-solving section is well done. Newbies and old timers alike will reach for this resource often. I certainly do. And Jean's companion web site makes this the most up-to-date directory possible.

This is the most complete family website listing publication I've ever come across! This book has opened more doors for my son and me than I could have ever imagined! We have both made many contacts -- for business and pleasure! Great resource!
