The first four chapters explain exactly what the Internet is and how to connect your Mac to it. The author is careful to cover important topics such as modems. After this background information, three chapters cover Netscape and Microsoft Web-browser programs, as well as America Online.
Once you're on the Web, the author shows you how to use e-mail and search for Web sites that meet your interest. This latter section includes a list of several special-interest sites and search engines. Since search engines vary, the book offers usage tips for the popular ones. Next comes a brief chapter that helps to demystify the language of Web pages and shows you how to make your own. A useful chapter illustrates how to use Microsoft Office applications to create Web pages.
The book wraps up with a concise section of surfing tips and suggested Web sites. If you're a Mac user with an itch to get on the Net--but haven't a clue where to start--this title will get you there without a scratch. --Stephen Plain --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Best Internet book for iMac users,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Internet for Macs for Dummies (Paperback)
This is the easiest introduction to Internet usage for Mac users. I managed to set up a Web site for my business using only this book, and it was my first effort on a new iMac.

Pleasingly written, no detail,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Internet for Macs for Dummies (Paperback)
I thought the book was pleasingly written, but could not find basic information. For instance I needed to know how to set preferences in Netscape, and not only that but also what the various selections actually meant, and how they worked. The information on the above was very limited. Much of the book is devoted to listing interesting web sites. I found the book a good overview but, if you need detailed information look elsewhere.

This review is from: Internet For Macs.. For Dummies.., The (Paperback)
This is the best book about the internet on the shelves, bar none. Both beginner and advanced user will appreciate this book, and keep it handy, as no matter how many times you look through it, you'll always spot new information you didn't notice before! It walks you step by step through configuring your connection, and starts you off collecting shareware to help you and internet sites to guide you. I bought my first Mac, and this book, and have been off and running ever since! This book takes an often confusing subject, & makes it fun
