Product Description

These days the very concept of "Internet Safety" seems like an oxymoron.

In this ebook Leo A. Notenboom, the "Leo" in the popular technical Question and Answer site Ask Leo! summarize popular articles covering the basics - the things you must do, the software you must run and the concepts you need to be aware of - to keep your computer and your data safe as you use the internet.

- Firewalls

- Mobile Security
- Backing Up
- Physical Security

It's not hard, and once things are in place it's not even time consuming.

But it is necessary.

Goes Beyond the Basics February 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Leo has decades of experience in the computer biz, and it shows. He explains each aspect of what you need to do, and very importantly, he explains WHY it needs to be done. And if you're a bit of a newbie, he doesn't talk down to you: he explains it in simple language, yet with enough detail that you can fully grasp the concept.

(If you're a bit more savvy, you'll still find enough detail to fill in any gaps in your knowledge. I did.)

And it really is important: with poor computer security, your computer can be turned into a remote spam sender by foreign hackers; you can unwittingly give up the password to your bank or investment accounts; you can lose important files (back taxes? School report? Your epic novel? The only photos of your kids?)

Good security isn't hard. It's not intimidating. And once you're set up right, as Leo shows you, it's not even time-consuming. Meanwhile, what you learn here can save your reputation, save your bank accounts, and save your important information. It's a lot to ask for a few-dollar book, but Leo delivers. This book is worth many times its price.

Great help to any user March 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Leo is my go-to guy for computer questions. I love his ask-leo.com website, which has helped me numerous times. He's right on target and makes his assistance easy to understand for just about any level of computer user. This book is no exception. To the point and easily understandable. No need to be a techie to use his suggestions for secure computing. Judy
