Practical Information I Could Use Right Away,
By Shari D. (Bonney Lake, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Internet Safety and Your Family: A parent's best guide to phishing, spoofing, spam, filters, blogs, gaming, social networking and online worlds (Paperback)
My kids are 14 and 11 and are becoming more savvy Internet users. The author is right when she says that kids will outpace your knowledge almost overnight. I felt like I needed some insider advice when it comes to adolescent use of the Internet. I got it. I particularly liked the suggested "net-etiquette" contract with family rules surrounding the Internet, advice on how to protect your child & family's identity online, how to protect financially sensitive information, reviewing what other kids post online about your kids, and advice on parental filters. This is written in a straight forward manner and is easy for non-technical types to understand. I found it very useful & informative.
