Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Although Junor and DeMontravel say their Internet guide is for everyone, it is really intended for the vast majority of users who need their online skills broken down for them. The book covers the areas of the 'Net most users want to learn about: electronic mail, news groups, the World Wide Web, Gopher, and other tools. In language free of technical jargon, it explains what all these systems can do, and instructions for how to use them are presented in a step-by-step manner. Librarians should be interested in the description of Wide Area Information Service, which can provide nearly unbelievable amounts of information. More casual 'Net users may benefit from the tips on 'Net surfing. Although lack of graphics makes the book look somewhat blander than others of its kind, it still provides a very useful map for the main routes of the new communications revolution. Aaron Cohen
