Design flaw; not built to last, January 17, 2005
This review is from: Interplak Rechargeable Power Plaque Remover Toothbrush (model NT8) (Health and Beauty)
This is our second Interplak toothbrush. We bought it to replace our old one, which lasted through a few years of use by two people before the battery finally lost its ability to hold a charge. We loved it. Like the previous one we had, we find this is great at keeping our teeth clean. But I would certainly like to meet the genius who designed this so that every time you use it, water gets down into the main housing. This means you have to remove the head each time and dump the water out of the base. This isn't a huge deal for us -- since two of us share the base, it gives us a reason to take our personal head off and put it in the handy storage rack each time, leaving the base ready for the other. But if I were a solo user of this brush, I am sure I would get tired of having to dismantle the thing after every use. UPDATE: After 8 months, the product failed. It would no longer hold a charge at all. To their credit, Conair (the manufacturer) replaced the product quickly. I had to pay to ship the defective one back to them, of course, but that's pretty standard. Also, the model they replaced my defective one with was not exactly the same -- instead of a compartment for storing the heads when not in use, it just has a rack to hang them on. SECOND UPDATE: It's been another few months, and now the replacement unit I was sent is starting to go bad. It's clear to me that this product is not durable. Given another chance, I'd only rate this 3 stars for this reason, although I still think it does a great job of cleaning.

The most effective brush out there....but problematic., June 20, 2005
This review is from: Interplak Rechargeable Power Plaque Remover Toothbrush (model NT8) (Health and Beauty)
If another company would duplicate this type of brush, but just execute it better, they would do well. I have bought 3 of these Interplak brushes and many, many, brush heads. The brush heads wear out fast, are hard to find, and are not cheap. The batteries they use in the unit must be old recycled ni cads that don't last long either. I too have tried all the other brushes and found they do not work near as well as the Interplak. The individual bristles make all the difference. I keep saying that I will go out and get an Oral B or some other brand, but my Dentist says my teeth have never been better. I guess I will continue buying Interplak until they go out of business. Most people aren't as forgiving as me.

Best electric toothbrush around!!, August 18, 2005
This review is from: Interplak Rechargeable Power Plaque Remover Toothbrush (model NT8) (Health and Beauty)
I had an Interplaque electric toothbrush, which was great. The plaque really came off, and my teeth felt smooth to the tongue. The thing finally broke, and I decided to get this Oral B as a replacement. What a disappointment. I tried the circular brush, and the double brush head. It's big and bulkn, makes a lot of noise and hub-bub in your mouth. It often stops if you press too hard against your teeth. But the main problem is that my teeth are not smooth afterwards. It simply does not work as well as the old interplaque. I think the interplaques bristles went in and out and rotated. These bristles do not rotate, and what they DO do does not work as well. I spend a hundred bucks on this including a pack of double brush heads. I then bought the new version of the interplaque, made by Conair, for about $20. My teeth are smoother, and brush head is smaller, and it just works better. (used without toothpaste, though sometimes with an anti-plaque mouthwash). I don't know why the interplaque is not more widely popular. It just works better, feels better in your mouth, doesn't stop if you press harder against the teeth, etc.
