Great e.p. - great price.,

Great e.p., for the right price. I'd pay the money just for "P.D.A." The full length CD will be released in August, but for now, buy this e.p. By the way, I can understand why people reference Joy Division when speaking of Interpol, but let me be the first to mention (at least in this forum) that these guys are the spitting aural image of the Chameleons UK. And that's a good thing.

Two Hundred Couches?,
By A Customer

After hearing all of these new bands copping moves and fashions from people who could be their grandfathers I've grown a little sickened -- how many waifish boys in sharp clothes discovering vinyl for the first time can one take? But Interpol is changing my mind. Sure, they listen to a lot of Joy Division (and Galaxie 500, for that matter), but it all feels somehow renewed, rather than rehashed...I've been listening to the same three songs on this Interpol EP with increasing fascination. If the full-length meets the standards of these three songs, we just might have something worth getting ecstatic about.

All hail the second coming of 80s alternative rock,
By Dave P (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews

This is fantastic Joy Division influenced pop from NYC, moody with high emotional drama and some really good songs. A few years ago a band a sound steeped in 80s melodic postpunk would not have been taken seriously (e.g., Stretch Princess). But with the emergence of bands such as The Strokes, The White Stripes, The Hives, and The Mooney Suzuki, the grunge/indie/emo logjam has finally been shattered. I eagerly look forward to the full-length in August!

If you're tired of the [stuff] that's being put out these days in the "music" genre, give Interpol a try. They have both a nostalgiac feel, while retaining a freshness that keeps the listener coming back for more!

Outstanding,

Of all of Interpol's works, I think that the song PDA is what makes them as great as they are. The guitar/keyboard at the end of that song has that feeling that makes it a classic. This song speaks to the indi-rock fans, the way music is meant to.

Essential for any Interpol fan,

The "Interpol EP" was originally issued in June, 2002 as a "preview' of their debut album "Turn on the Bright Lights". Even though 2 of the 3 tracks on the EP would wound up on the album, it nevertheless is an essential CD for any Interpol fan."PDA" is one of the best songs from the "Bright Lights" album. It comes with a hard-driven, yet mesmorising beat, and the last 2 min. "outro" is genius. "NYC" is the most inward looking song (don't call it a ballad!) from the album, and the one that would give the album its title. "Specialist" is the last track, and the one that makes this EP, er, "special". The song is completely in line with the dark atmosphere of the album, and similar in energy to tracks like "PDA" and "Obstacle 1". (It is also a staple on Interpol's current set list. If you have a chance to see them live, don't hesitate!) Buy all means, BUY IT!

Buy this EP just for the song The SPecialist and PDA. Great songs, and THe Specialist is a very long song.

i saw these guys open for belle & sebastian a bit ago in nyc, this was the first time i had ever heard of them...i bought there self released ep at the show the minute after the first song end'd, the joy division likeness is hard to escape, but i think the singer sounds more like neil young at times...the ep is a sign of a great full length to come. if you like joy division or the cure etc check em out.

Considering all the weird emo crap their putting out these days, this is a good kick back and be yourself CD.Interpols style kind of reminds of Grandaddy meets radiohead. I really like this CD and I recommend the second track from turn on the bright lights.
