Harris's treatment of Hegel's logic is sympathetic, detailed, and thorough. Comparison and contrast of his own analyses with those of other Hegel scholars are a strong point of the book. The discussion of Hegel's conception of logic and its place in Hegel's system is among the best to date. The particularly valuable postscript deals with the question of the tenability of Hegelianism today, thereby providing an overall evaluation of Hegel's philosophy and its contemporary significance.
