A great 'pop' album,

Cope's albums from Peggy Suicide through to this one represent a sustained output of near genius. Interpreter is let down just a little bit by its at times silly lyrics, but is full of great tunes with not a dud track. Like all of Cope's albums of the 90s it is best listened to in a single sitting as the tempo builds and the songs run together in a way that highlights their strengths more so than as a collection of individual tracks. Cope's new EP is now released and a new album is not far away. He is a relatively undiscovered & unknown treasure.

Music of Megalithic Proportions,

Julian Cope does it again. This is a superb album. I Come From Another Planet Baby was a great rock single, with an hypnotic rhythm and great lyrics. Then comes a rehashed favourite I've Got My TV & My Pills...brilliant stuff. My favourite track is The Battle For The Trees, a politically motivated song, maybe, but this is Cope at his best. The album loses its way a bit in the second half, but finishes strongly with Dust. A great album from a great artist.

Some of his best work,

If your a fan Julian Cope's work then you'll love this. My favourite track is 'Love Boat' a real whistle along song - the one you whistle all day at work. The rest of album is typical anti-pop similar to his early solo work. Enjoy.

You know what? I just listened to this cd again and it is great.I don't know where my head was of has been with this cd. So scratch my previous review, actually I am just deleting it. I don't know what I was saying. It's great. I can't color in that last star, so imagine it colored in like the rest of them.

I bought this as a gift for my son who wanted it, but I have been fortunate enough to hear it because we commute together and play it in the car. I love Julian Cope and I'm 65-years old!His voice, his music, his band make me happy and bring me out of a funky mood from the office on my way home from work every evening. Thank God for Julian Cope! |
