Gift item first, workbook second, Interpreting Dreams A-Z is a gorgeously illustrated spiral-bound manual and rudimentary guide to dream interpretation. Deepak Chopra's introduction wisely gives the reader five steps to promote a good night's sleep, and then Nacson briefly outlines the basic precepts. There's a glossary of the language of dream interpretation--words like "archetype," "consciousness," and "association" are simply defined, making this a suitable gift for teenagers. The rest of the book is a dictionary of symbols from A to Z. It works like this: if you dream of an attic, look up its possible meanings, which are listed as "lofty thoughts, higher consciousness, elevated communication, storage, or sanctuary." Then take your pick, or intuit your own meaning, and write it down in the space provided so that you can remember it the next time you dream of an attic. Nacson also carefully points out that everyone has a unique symbol system, but this guide gives readers some ideas for analyzing their own and others' dreams. --P. Randall Cohan

Not only is this a useful index of the archetypes, but the illustrations in this book are creative and imagnative. The illustrations are the main reason I have a copy of the book. The illustrator should have her name on the cover of this book along with the author!
