4.0 out of 5 stars Useful!
This book might be dubbed primitive once for all?
And is more the style of a pamphlet, I would estimate.
But taking anything into consideration, then this short book is very helpful to understand the manipulation within a typical interrogation interview.
It comes up with many different methods to separate concepts of police manipulation.
But it's...

This review is from: Interrogation: Techniques And Tricks To Secure Evidence (Paperback)
This book provides a large number of real life (and well presented) examples of "themes" that a trained police interrogator would use to convice a guilty person to confess. Unfortunately, the book provides absolutely no information on how a police interview/interrogation is actually setup and run. The book assumes that the reader already knows and understands these concepts. For example...a police interrogation consists of multiple parts, each building on the other. Most of this strategy is critical to the interrogation, and much of it occurs before the "tricks" (themes) mentioned in this book. While this book provides very good information on one segment of a police interview...you need to look for additional books if you want to understand a police interrogation.

Check out the book used by many Police departments for Training.... ("Principals of Kinesic Interrogation" by Stan Walters)

Also check out ("Identifying Lies in Disguise" by Wendell Rudacille )

3.0 out of 5 stars probably complete techniques but short examples of each, July 10, 1999

This review is from: Interrogation: Techniques And Tricks To Secure Evidence (Paperback)
I've read two other interogation manuals(we get confessions by Albert Joseph jr. and make em talk by Patrick McDonald) so I've got a bit to go on. This book is pretty complete for techniques but the examples don't show enough. The book "we get confessions" is the opposite. It gives great examples but is short on techniques. The book "make em talk" is a military interogation manual which deals more with torcher. If you are going to read "interrogation, techniques and tricks to secure evidense" it would be best to read the other two books mentioned. If you were going to read any of the three books, order "interrogation, techniques and trick to secure evidense". By the way, this is a canadian book. The other two books are american. Not that it much matters.

This book might be dubbed primitive once for all?
And is more the style of a pamphlet, I would estimate.
But taking anything into consideration, then this short book is very helpful to understand the manipulation within a typical interrogation interview.
It comes up with many different methods to separate concepts of police manipulation.
But it's all merged together, and many of the concepts are however the same.
But it doesn't matter due to the great introduction for beginners of this special art, will conduct out of this book.

To simplify this book for you.
No it does not contain details about anything physical or anything beside the psychological methods introduced, neither does it provide mimic expressions or how the interrogation room is set up and etc.

A very primitive book all in all, but useful because these tricks gets incorporated again and again, in its logic, and in the end you think to your self, I already knew that, but great to be confirmed in this issue. The book overall teaches an important entrance to something more complicated, and is still useful, I would say, due to the (essence) of police interrogation it provides!

Worth reading...

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is a waste of time., May 13, 2007

Information is not accurate and police officers I know find its publisher highly unethical. Don't use for anything but light reading to amuse.
