5.0 out of 5 stars The grand-daddy of Queer studies, September 6, 2011
This review is from: The Intersexes: A History of Similsexualism As a Problem in Social Life (Homosexuality) (Hardcover)
This is a somewhat defective (blurred) reprint of a work originally privately published in a very limited edition in Italy a century ago. The author's real name was Edward Prime-Stevenson (died 1942). He was a wealthy American who lived in Italy in self-imposed exile. He also wrote several novels. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the homosexual world of circa 1900. There is an appendix dealing with the German writer Platen, who kept a diary. One could hardly wish for a more abundant collection of information on the subject, especially since this was almost the one and only study of its kind in those days.
