This review is from: Interviews With B Science Fiction And Horror Movie Makers: Writers, Producers, Directors, Actors, Moguls and Makeup (Paperback)
This volume deals largely with behind the scenes personnel, who make for better interview subjects because 90% of the actors just say "Everyone was so nice."Some highlights: Mel Welles on Roger Corman. The Jerry Warren interview. Interviews with several different people who worked on such films as The Unearthly, Magnetic Monster, and The Black Sleep, allowing rare insight into not only how such films were made, but the way different participants' recollections can give the reader/fan a greater understanding of the filmmaking process. My only gripe is, for the price, the Amazon summaries should list all the interviewees in each of Weaver's books, so they can choose the ones that hold the most interest. Although, honestly, I never met a Tom Weaver book I didn't like. If you're thinking of taking the plunge, this is a good one to start with. |
