5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on interviewing for journalists, July 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been a journalist for 30 years and have been training journalists overseas since 1996. This book was published in the mid-80s, and it is still the best textbook on interviewing I've ever seen.

It covers every aspect of interviewing - preparation, how to write good questions, equipment, how to handle various difficulties in interviews, etc. etc.

If every journalist would read this book and follow these basic standards, the media would be doing much better as an institution. People would be much more interested in the news because they'd be getting actual information instead of a performance by the so-called reporter.

It's unfortunate that this is out of print. It should be re-issued with a few updates about the Internet added to the research section.
