3.0 out of 5 stars CalSplash 2500 Gallon Swimming Pool Pump
I bought this for my 18' X 4' pool. It came with a 1500 gph pump that was sorely lacking in it's ability to keep up with the size of the pool and volume of water. This pump works amazingly well. Not only can it move the volume of water that I need it to, it also runs very quiet. The only downside to this pump is it's quirk of wanting to do a vacum lock. In that the pump...

Amazon gives me a toy rating system for this pool pump - but it is everything but!! A terrific pump that I bought as a replacement for an 18 x 4 foot pool - as I was looking for a pump that I could really "vacuum" with. This filter was the ticket. It has ample power and suction to perform my task without a problem. The larger filter is wonderful in that now I no longer have to do the filter cleaning every other day but can go 1-2 weeks!! No more surface skimming either! I simply turn the pump on for 10 minutes before we get in and the skimmer basket combined with this pump does it for me!! In summary - I now love my pool a whole lot more!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthy Upgrade, May 3, 2008

I purchased this unit to replace the smaller weak stock filter pump that came with my 18x48 easy set pool. This unit is VERY strong! It even cleaned up the debris off the bottom without even vacuuming the pool! I highly recommend this pump to anyone tired of messing with the under powered pumps that come with the easy set pools. Caution should be used around children however, as this pump could cause a suction hazard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pump at a Great Price, September 6, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars

After a few years, the smaller pump that came with my 18' Intex metal framed pool stopped working. I was tired of cleaning these smaller filters most everyday I must say. I researched pumps and it was just a little more to upsize to this pump and it had a larger filter, so I ordered it.

Since I had the connector hoses and skimmer already hooked up, installation was a breeze. When I turned on the pump I was blown away with how much water this pump moved. It was almost too much water movement for my 18' round pool, but I definitely will take too much power over not enough any day. Also, as is common with these paper filters they get clogged up with bugs, dirt, hair, suntan loition, etc, so the water flow will slow down.

When I used to clean my filter every day, now I just have to do it about 1 or twice a week and my filter has lasted a month now. This alone is worth the money in my opinion to upgrade to this pump. It is too bad that Intex doesn't include this pump in their larger pools. One thing to keep in mind with this pump though is tnat it does not come with a skimmer and only a plastic screened cap for the intake.

All in all I highly recommend this 2500 GPH pump for those who are frustrated with the smaller pumps or as a replacement pump for an intex pool.

4.0 out of 5 stars great pump but, where are the plungers?, April 7, 2009
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
great pump but, seems like some of the vendors *cough* CMS *cough* like to take the plunger valves out of the box so they can sell them on the side and make more $$. so after paying their outrageous s&h fees and then having to order seperate plungers you may be better served getting the pump and adaptors directly from intex if you're going to use this on a smaller pool. CMS customer service is really poor as well as they will not comment on their plunger heist.

OH and i forgot i believe CMS is selling refurbs hence the MUCH lower price (without shipping) and the fact that my pump leaked at the top. SO after i ordered a replacement top and gasket from intex it works fine. how else could CMS sell the pump for so much less than the other vendors? once again they will not respond to my refurb questions i have presented to them.

great pump though but, in order to get it to seal and pump well without the adaptors sliding off the pool's inlets/oulets and sucking air you need the plunger valves. you can buy them here from vendors but, again after S&H fees for the pump and having to buy the valves plus S&H you're really not saving a lot if anything at all vs. buying direct from intex. not to mention the cost to replace the fautly top from CMS selling refurbs.

for the record i have tried contacting CMS repeatedly by phone AND email regarding the plunger and refurb issues and they will not respond. when you look at the list of vendors selling this pump CMS states "brand new in original packaging" which is misleading. now look at the other vendors who state "brand new with all valves, plungers, etc." you're better off taking that route as in the end you will pay more if you buy via CMS.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 'must have' for 15' and above Intex Pools, August 4, 2007
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I should have bought this pump years ago. It works like one you'd find in an in-ground pool. Terrific suction and you can clean your pool in a snap. I also bought the surface skimmer which cleans off the top of the pool in about 15 minutes! We don't use the hand held skimming net any more.

I just feel Intex should package this pump with all of their pools 15' and up because the 'toy pump' they package with it hardly circulates the water. 5 out of 5 from me!

We bought this for our 24'x52" above ground intex pool and it works great, we also purchased a saltwater filter. The pump that came with our pool didn't really move the water around well enough. Using this pump in conjunction with our saltwater filter has greatly reduced the amount of time used to maintain our pool.

3.0 out of 5 stars CalSplash 2500 Gallon Swimming Pool Pump, July 1, 2008
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
In that the pump will keep running quietly, but it's not actually pumping any water and it's not clogged. It's easily remedied by opening the air bleed valve over the filter and removing the intake hose from the pump (with it running) with the valves on the pool still open and letting the water flush into the pump. Even though it's an easy and short task to complete, I shouldn't have to be doing this. Luckily, I don't have to keep the pump running for extended periods of time, so it's never left unattended while running.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very powerful and amazingly quiet for the power!, June 12, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
I bought an easy set 15 foot round 4 foot deep pool that came with a small 800gph pump. It worked, but I didn't think it moved enough water to keep it clean. This pump is actually even more quiet than the 800gph. It cleans the whole pool so much better, and works very well with my saltwater system.

Some advice - buy some extra filters for it. The amount of dirt this thing collects in a week is just remarkable. Also, if you are buying this pump for an easy set 15 feet round or smaller (like me) you also HAVE to buy the hose adapters for a nice clean, water sealed connection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Filter Pump for an 18' Pool, July 24, 2008

We recently purchased an 18' x 4' circular Intex above-ground pool set that came with a woefully inadequate 1500 gph filter pump. It could barely manage to keep the skimmer running for an hour before the type "A" filter got too clogged, and the water was continually cloudy. So, we decided to upgrade to the 2500 gph pump. This pump works great for our ~7500 gallon pool. It takes type "B" filters, which we only need to rinse off once a day. Our pool water really is "Krystal Klear"! We run the skimmer all night long, and the skimmer grabs all the bugs and leaves that inevitably fall into our pool overnight. The vacuum has plenty of "oomph" with this pump. It's even less noisy than the 1500 gph pump we started with. Tips:

1) Vent the air out of the pump any time you start it up, or if you hear it get noisy (which can happen sometimes when starting the skimmer). If there is a lot of air trapped in the pump, it will not work well. The pump needs to be off when you vent it. "Pro tip": Just barely open the air-release valves when venting! (Trust me on this one!)

2) Rinse off your filter regularly. Once a day works well for us, but this will vary. This pump can push a *lot* of water through the filter, so if your pool is really dirty it can clog the filter quickly! You will know when the filter needs rinsing because the output pressure will drop off noticeably.

3) This pump has some serious suction! You'll probably want to turn it off when people--especially kids--are in the pool, just to be safe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the upgrade, July 26, 2008
This review is from: Intex 4000-Gallon Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
Replaced two of the original 1500 GPH pumps that came with my 18 ft. Intex pool, and finally decided to spend the extra money to upgrade to this 4000 GPH pump. Have owned this pump for 1 month, this pump is much, much more powerful. I have upgrade the suction hose to flexible PVC, and will probably upgrade the valves next to allow for the full 1 1/2 inch water flow. This pump filters really well, but the valves seem to cause the pump to lose suction during vacuuming. I hope once I upgrade the valves this problem will go away. Finally, I would highly recommend this purchase especially for the 18 ft. Intex pool.
