5.0 out of 5 stars Better than original
This was a good replacement for the one that came with the pool. All of the connections matched. The new cap on the pool side allows for better circulation of the water throughout the pool due to less diffusion of the water coming back into the pool from the pump. Seems to stir up the pool better to keep all of the water moving. It came complete with a new filter, so...

1.0 out of 5 stars A complete waste of money.
We have purchased two of these pumps and we lucky if they worked for a month or two being used at the most 2 to 3 hours a day. Last summer we stored our brand new pump carefully knowing how sensitive these pumps are. We set up our pool this spring and plugged in our carefully-stored pump- nothing. There is no reason why this should not work other than shoddy workmanship...

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad impeller is design defect, June 23, 2008
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Intex 58603E Recreation 530-Gallon Pool Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
I have this filter/pump which is sold with many Intex small above ground pools. The pump lasted a year for me, then suddenly stopped working the following year. I thought it may have been some seeds from nearby trees clogging it so I took it apart. I found that the plastic covering around the shaft of the impeller had simply come off over time. A loose piece was still remaining which made it clear the now bare metal was previously covered by plastic. There was no "fixing" this. After looking on the internet for a while, the part was not available either. Now I see that many people are complaining about it suddenly stopping. This is due to that design defect and it would be tolerable if the impeller was sold at a cheap price in packs of 3 or more with instruction that it should be changed every few months. Now I have to buy another pump, but at least I just didn't wind up getting this one again.

3.0 out of 5 stars HOW TO STRENGTHEN PUMP & MAKE IT LAST, April 20, 2011
This review is from: Intex 58603E Recreation 530-Gallon Pool Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
I read many reviews on these intex pumps, and the problem that seems to plague them is a cheaply made plastic impeller that moves (pumps) the water. So listen up folks... if you buy a replacement pump, or even buy a pool set for the first time, BEFORE you even use the pump for the first time, take it apart until you can remove the impeller. This is pretty simple requiring only about 4 or 5 screws be removed... just make sure you pay attention to how it comes apart (especially the washers around the impeller). Then go down to walmart, home depot, lowes, or any auto parts store and buy some EPOXY. This should be two different liquids (or gels) that come in two different tubes that you must mix together. This stuff is SUPER STRONG, and most are rated for 2,500 to 3,500 lbs per square inch of strength... like steel almost. So what your going to do is get a small paint brush, and "paint" the impeller with epoxy, making a SUPER STRONG coat over the cheap plastic. Just make sure you don't get any on the inside of the hole in the center of the impeller where it slides onto the metal rod. Allow it 24 hours to dry (depending on what type of epoxy you use), and then reassemble the pump. I guarantee this will save you money and headaches in the long run. Also if any other plastic parts break on the pump, you can use this epoxy to fix/repair/strengthen them as well.

I bought the pump on june 20 and it lasted to aug. 18. I only ran the pump 3hrs. in the morning and 3hrs. at night. I thought I would at least get the summer out of it.

This pump was a great price after searching the net. It works properly and came with all the hoses, connectors and even a filter. I had no idea all that was coming with the pump. I was very happy and pleased with my purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars completely worthless, July 26, 2006
This review is from: Intex 58603E Recreation 530-Gallon Pool Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this pump on 6-25, received it on 6-28, installed it on 6-30, and it quit working on 7-3 just in time for our daughter's fourth of july party. I've been trying to get ahold of the company since then to get my money back, but every time I call I get a busy signal-not a good sign. I strongly reccommend reading the reviews and not buying this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazon or Toys R Us should not sponsor this company, July 4, 2006
This review is from: Intex 58603E Recreation 530-Gallon Pool Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
After reading the reviews i saw that i was another victim of this company. The filter that came with the pool went out in less than a month. Thinking that I had missused the product, I purchased this filter as a substitue. It is a shame that Amazon and Toys R Us sponsor this company. They should, besides returining our money, provide us with another product "THAT WORKS". The issue here is not that much how I feel, it is the kids. I can not have them use the pool without filtering the water so they are really un-happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars New pump, January 7, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Intex 58603E Recreation 530-Gallon Pool Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
I made the mistake of packing the pump closed up with a wet filter. This caused the pump rotor to rust and seize. This pump was an inexpensive replacement and works as good as the original. Always dry out everything before packing it away for the winter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Might as well not include a pump...this one is a joke, August 25, 2011
This review is from: Intex 58603E Recreation 530-Gallon Pool Filter Pump (Lawn & Patio)
I wish Intex would just not include a pump if it's going to have one as weak as this one. I can leave this pump running 24/7 and it will not even begin to keep my 12' x 30" pool clean. Just sell your pool and let buyers buy a good pump separately. Now I have to buy a larger pump to replace this joke.
