I bought this jump-o-lene for my 5 year old son thinking he would have a blast but was greatly disappointed. The box says it's for ages 3-6 but it's more like 1-3. My 2 1/2 year old loves it!He is lighter and can bounce without hitting his feet on the ground like my 5 year old who is
about 45 lbs. I read several reviews before purchasing this toy but did not...

4.0 out of 5 stars worked for us (the 2nd time around), February 3, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
We purchased the 2009 version in November. After reading reviews we knew these were defective sometimes with leaky seams. We live in a tiny apartment in a snowy location so I really wanted this to work for my kids (ages 1 & 3) for some aerobic playtime when stuck indoors. With that in mind I was determined to keep sending back defective ones until I finally hit upon one with well sealed seams. I purchased my first one from Walmart because it would be easy to facilitate free returns as there is a store in my town. I bought an electric pump from Amazon for about twenty-five dollars that works well to inflate it.

The first bouncer I had did not have an obvious leak, but I did have to fill the wall chamber every day. There are 3 chambers and they need to be inflated in order (floor, outside bumper ring, walls). I wasn't happy having to fill it every day so I took it back to Walmart and ordered another. The second one has been awesome, not needing more air for a month at a time. I have been sure to press the valve covers flat over the plug hole (not necessarily pushing the plug into its recessed position, as you would with a beach ball, [with the exception of the floor chamber for safety reasons] as it is a bit of a challenge to pull the plug back out for inflating).

There was a strong smell of vinyl with each one that needed about 2 weeks to totally go away, obviously outgassing. If you have a way to set it outside for a few hours each day or leave a window open I think that would speed up the process. Now there is no smell at all.

I like the door. My one year old can climb in and out easily by himself. My three year old likes to launch himself in. There is a limit of two kids and I think a combined weight limit of 120 lbs. The clear sides make supervision easier.

I have some super squishy foam balls that we include inside, but we have not made it a true "ball pit" at this time. I do not allow any toys other than the foam balls in the bouncer. We also keep everything else out (snacks, drinks, shoes, slippers, etc.) so we reduce the risk of anything that can puncture it.

My boys also like to partially invert the bouncer on a big bean bag chair and pretend it's a den. They bring their animals to "hibernate" in there (much like we feel on snowy winter days!) They even have fun with it when we've leaned it up against a wall when not in use by crawling through the tunnel it makes when up on it's side.

Though my place is VERY tiny, we use this every day and leave it inflated. It takes at least 10 minutes to inflate or deflate it, not time I want to be spending daily so we just find ways to move it out of the way to access more play space when they're not bouncing.

This has been a good investment for thirty-eight dollars for some energy releasing playtime indoors. I do recommend this product if you have the patience to find one with good seams and let the smell dissipate.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best toy possible, July 11, 2009

This is the best type of toy we have found on the market. The kids do not get bored with it, and it is nearly costless compared to the price of toys these days. It has not popped and my daughter is extremely rough--she jumps over the walls and hangs on them.

The benefits are:

*It can be used as a spare bed as well as a toy. The walls make kids feel secure so they like to sleep in it.

*Turn it upside down and it is a hut.

*It is good for hyperactive kids: they stay in one location rather than ripping the house apart

*It is a group activity

*The kids do not get bored with it.

Although my older son doesn't have much fun jumping in it, he and his brother can use it to wrestle in, take naps, turn upside down and make a fort. It is still pretty fun.

Bottom line: Great for children under 3! Disappointing for bigger little kids who want to jump too!

I got this for my 1yr olds bday. Wasn't sure if he was old enough (started walking at 11 mo's). Easy to blow up since we had a compressor; no plastic smell when opened. It has lasted about a month. plenty of kids were on it. i think the max weight is 120lbs. Flip it over and it's a fort :)If this lasts, I envisions plenty of fun. If it doesn't I envision buying another one!

this is the second time i have purchased this item in hopes that it was just my destructive kids that destroyed it the first time. unfortunately, it was the product that failed AGAIN. the top portion or walls of the toy don't hold the air very well. it keeps deflating and i have to add air each day. if that doesn't bother you and you can figure out how to patch a hole easily as well then this toy is for you. good luck.

I am so sad that this toy didn't work. I got it as a Christmas present for my 2 yr old nephew and it came punctured. I had read the reviews about this being a recurrent problem, but thought maybe I'd get lucky and get a good one... But I guess that wasn't so. Now I'm going to have to deal with the return and see if I can get my money back because I'm too afraid that I will get the same thing the second time around, and third and so forth. The worst part is that I really tought this would be a great present for my busy nephew, but he ended up not really getting a present for Christmas from me... yet. I'll have to go back to square one and think of a present that actually works.

As far as this product goes, please listen to the reviews that say don't buy it and avoid yourself the trouble and childs heartache.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't find anything this fun and reasonably priced. $40 bucks at Wal-mart., February 20, 2011

This review is from: Intex Jump O Lene Transparent Ring Bounce (Toy)
To tell the truth, I got this toy for my son when he was significantly under the manufacturers recommended age range. Obviously with complete supervision, but he loved it then and loves it just as much now. So do his friends. He never ever gets bored of it spending anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours in it daily jumping along to Nick Jr. and getting plenty of the exercise he needs on those days he can't go outside and play. It has also turned our home into a favorite spot for playdates. I have recommended it to several of my friends.

Before I purchased the jumpolene I read many customer reviews. Many said that it is very odorous, often leaks, and isn't very sturdy. I decided to purchase it anyway and return it until I got one that was sealed well. Luckily, the first one I got worked perfectly. It did smell strongly plastic-y but I was relieved because the smell was nothing like the reviews led me to believe. It smelled no worse than a new pool toy and the smell dissipated almost entirely over the course of about 8 hours. My jumpolene has also proven itself to be quite sturdy. I don't know if I was just lucky, but it has never blown a leak even after hours of up to 3 toddlers bouncing wildly in it with or without shoes and even an incident in which my 60lb black lab also hopped in there for a few seconds before we could remove her. So I would say it is worth ordering even if there is the chance you might have to return it for a new one.

If you have young children in it, I recommend you no let your eyes off them for a second. It is easy to lose balance especially if more than one child is in it. I would also not recommend it for people with children on the upper end of the recommended ages because they end up being too large to really bounce and enjoy it although it is still a very versatile toy often used as a fort or circus tent in my household.

It is also very large, larger even than the photos would lead you to imagine. It requires quite a large amount of floor space especially because it takes a decent time to blow up even with a large air compressor, much more than you would want to do every day. I just push it back in the corner and use it to store stuffed animals in when not in use. Also, if you are wanting to make it a real "ball pit" you are going to need much more than 100 balls. More like 400 or more.

A very great toy. Easily the most "bang for my buck" I have ever gotten in a child's toy.

Intex Jump-O-Lene Transparent Ring Bouncer
I was so excited to buy this for my grandaughter that was turning 2 years old because she absolutely loves jumping on everything.....bed, couch, floor....she is definitely a jumper. Her Mom and I thought that this would be a great way for her to jump to her hearts content and also get her off the bed and the couch....and it worked for about 3 weeks. Now mind you my grandaughter is only 27 lbs. but within 3 weeks time the jump-o-lene sides started slowing going down. Well we thought ok....if it goes down really slow I guess we can just keep putting air in it but with in two weeks it was going down within an hour. And we still can't find where the air is leaking from, which is really baffling me. Of course, the 30 days has passed and I am stuck with a flat Jump-O-Lene and feel like I totally wasted money. I would not recommend this unless you are prepared for it to may or may not last.

I bought this for my son who just turned two. He loves it! I put in a bag of those plastic balls (it would probably take 3 bags to fill it properly, but I didn't want to be picking up balls all the time) and he gets in and rolls around throwing the balls. I hope that we get a lot of use out of this. But, I would definitely buy off Amazon because store prices are ridiculous!

I can't believe this toy! It lasted for one month. It ripped at all the seams. My two children together weigh 40 pounds. I took very good care of it and so did they. I would not recommend this toy or any other ones made by this company. It was so poorly made. What a huge disappointment.
