2.0 out of 5 stars Ultra is code for 'cheaped out' June 1, 2013
We had the regular intex blue 15x48 last season, and it worked just fine. Yes, the liner did develop a few leaks but we repaired them. Unfortunately, the pool liner shredded when we took it down for the season. That leads us to this season. We bought the Ultra Frame version for approx one hundred more than a similarly sized intex blue pool. Yes the ultra is prettier, it is a nice light grey, and the frame looks more attractive, but everything else is cheaper!!!
First, the is no skimmer, no pool cleaning kit, no vacuum, the pump is smaller, and the pool ladder is missing the safety panel. There isn't even a place on the pool to attach a regular skimmer. All of these things were standard on the cheaper model. We may decide to pay the additional 160for a salt water conversion kit, but I am a bit miffed that all of the things that are required to take care of a pool are costly extras in this model. Had I known this ahead of time, I would have bought a blue model. Lesson learned; read the box very carefully wen buying anything from Intex.

5.0 out of 5 stars 14' intex above ground pool June 5, 2013
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ok, for starters I give this pool 5 stars and myself 1 star for being an idiot. I bought this on a whim $277 at Walmart. Was so excited to get it set up and full. I thought my ground was level, at least it looked so. I let it fill overnight and into the day... And needless to say, it was incredibly unlevel by 6 inches. While nothing happened during the time that it was unlevel, I could tell that the majority of the weight was on one side seemingly 2 legs supporting the weight. All the forums that I read said how incredibly dangerous this was and how $60 worth of water is nothing compared to a child's life. That is all I needed to hear. I was incredibly nervous with it lopsided and didn't even take a chance swimming in it. I decided to drain the entire pool (yeah I about cried) and remove the pool to level the ground the correct way. (8 foot 2x 4 and level method) . It took me an entire day of backbreaking work and the rental of a tiller to level that 16' area, but after I set the pool back up on level ground and began to fill seeing everything level and filling as should, it was a huge sigh of relief. I would make sure to remove any rocks or pebbles from underneath, even the smallest smooth rock can feel like a shard under the pool.
Everything is back up, very level and I can't say how happy I am to say that " I have a pool". I purchased an extra cleaning set for $19.99 a few cheap tiki torches and floats and I really feel like I have a vacation get away in my backyard.
Very happy with the product and the $277 price (usually $299 from Walmart)

1.0 out of 5 stars Intex Ultra Frame - Bad Value September 14, 2012
Durability: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
If I would have known that the metal frame rusted out within 10 weeks, I never would have purchased this pool. When I contacted Intex Corp. about this problem, I was told that there was nothing that could be done as far as replacing the rusted parts, because my warranty was 2 days over the 90 day limit.

Also, get ready to deal with the worst customer service imaginable. When I asked the rep on the phone if the life expectency of their product was 10 weeks, she replied, "Well, I guess it is." So, you make up your mind whether or not to throw your money away on this pool. We did enjoy the few weeks we used this pool, but that's a pretty expensive dip in the water for such a short amount of time.

Buyer beware.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pool Solid; Intex not August 3, 2012
Durability: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 1.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Bought the Intex 14' ultra setup. Frame is much more sturdy than a regular frame. However, they give the cheapest plastic clips to hold the pool together. Half of them arrived bent and useless. Had the pool up and running for about a month and then pool pump stopped working. Called Intex and received a message we are too busy to help you please call back later. Unbelievable. Kept calling and finally got a hold of someone in China. They said once I fax my order it would be 3 weeks for a new one. Kept following up with them and finally after three weeks, got another pool pump. Can finally use the pool again.
