Review
The summer of '77 will live in the memories of Cassidy Buchanan forever. At the tender age of sixteen, and the youngest daughter of the wealthiest man in Prosperity, Oregon, Cass falls hard for the bad boy in town, Brig McKenzie. Nineteen and experienced, with both women and the law, the last thing Brig needs is to be accused of taking advantage of one of Rex McKenzie's daughters. But beautiful Angie wants to get him into bed, or any where else for that matter, and Cass wants to give him the innocent love he doesn't think he deserves. A deadly fire at the timber mill that results in the loss of Angie and another boy, has the town believing that only Brig McKenzie could be guilty. Insisting that he escape until the real killer/arsonist is found, Cass gives Brig her horse and her heart as he rides out of her life, possibly forever. Now, after seventeen years, Cass is confronted with memories of the past as well as problems of the present. Married to Brig's brother Chase, Cassidy's emotions are in turmoil when another fire, so similar to the previous one, leaves Chase fighting to recover and a second man, believed to be Brig McKenzie using an alias, dead. Intimacies is what this story is all about. The intimate relationships of the Buchanan's and the McKenzie's and the tragedies, mysteries, and evils they bring forth. Forget who shot J.R. - who fathered Angie's baby? Ms. Jackson has delved deeply into her characters motivations, lives, loves and hidden secrets to bring us a novel that shocks us with new twists just when you think you have the mystery figured out, and gives us the only happy ending their could be to such a complication situation.Ms. Jackson certainly reached for the stars with this one, and Intimacies shines brightly in comparison! Ms. Jackson makes character and plot development seem easy! What a natural talent! Ms. Jackson makes her secondary characters almost as strong as her hero and heroine, and boy does it work!Diane Potwin --
