This is my first but not my last Lisa Jackson book,

This review is from: Intimacies (Paperback)
After reading the first 100 or so pages, I figured I just had a very good romance novel, and then all of a sudden the action started. Ms. Jackson kept me guessing until the very end on who the culprit was. This was a very good romance/mystery and I would recommend it highly.

This book tells the story of Brig McKenzie and Cassidy Buchanan McKenzie. This book is action packed and is an emotional roller coaster. It has everything from incest to switched identities. Brig and Cass's love is endless. It's lasted through seventeen years of separation and Cass's marriage to Brig's older brother Chase. Interesting enough for you? Well, then purchase this book. It's outstanding! You'll love it!

Suspense At Every Turn and Until the End,

This review is from: Intimacies (Paperback)
Great suspense novel as well as great romance. Well defined and likeable characters. The relationship between Cassidy and Brig was one to remember. The secondary characters like Angie and Chase are great too! I never guess who was behind all the fires until the very end--great work!

Cassidy Buchanan fell hard at 16 for Brig McKenzie, a lothario from the wrong side of the tracks hired to break her unruly horse. Her older sister Angie would do anything to have Brig in her bed, but it's Cass that Brig has eyes for. When Angie and one of her suitors is killed in a fire, Brig flees the ranch, assuming that he'll be targeted as the primary suspect (which proves to be the case, as no one else is investigated). Fast forward 17 years, and another suspicious fire has occurred on the Buchanan property. Cass in now married to Brig's older brother Chase, who clawed his way out of his humble beginnings and the marriage is nearly over. When she learns that Chase and an unidentified man were injured in the fire, Cassidy races to Chase's side, offering to help nurse him to health. She suspects that the other victim, who soon succumbs to his injuries (with the help of the arsonist) is Brig, and mourns the loss of her true love as she nurses his brother back to health, while also feeling an intense connection to her once estranged husband.
Half of the book is spent in 1977, building the relationship of Brig and Cassidy, as well as setting the stage for what a nasty family Cassidy came from. Love, lies, deception, infidelity, and incest rule in this story, with a haiku pulled at the end to identify the arsonist. It's a long book (nearly 500 pages), but pretty engrossing once you get involved in the story; it could have been trimmed some and still maintained the romance and suspense. Despite its length, it's an intriguing and fast moving story.

A book you'll regret missing...,
This review is from: Intimacies (Paperback)
Cassidy Buchanan was always in the shadows compared to her older half sister, Angie. Though it bothered her mother, it never bothered Cassidy, who was content to stay out of the light that Angie thrived under. All Cassidy cared about were her horses and her freedom. At sixteen, she was gawky and gangly, still coming into her woman's body. All her feelings changed that summer when Brig McKenzie started work on her father's ranch. At nineteen, Brig was everything in a boy that fascinated Cassidy. He was a rebel of the highest order, never caring what anyone thought. Soon she realizes that her and her sister wanted the same boy, but for different reasons. Brig McKenzie only wanted to do his job. He was warned on his first day on the job to stay away from the Buchanan girls. Though no one knew it, it was Cassidy that fascinated him and Cassidy he dreamed about at night. He knew that the older one had her own agenda, and he didn't trust her at all. He knew Cassidy was trouble because she was so young, but he couldn't stay away from her. Then a devestating fire swept through the sawmill that was owned by the Buchanans that Brig knew he'd be blamed for. With help from the person he least expected, Brig left and never expected to be back. Now seventeen years later another fire brings the same questions that haunted everyone all those years before. Who was responsible? Cassidy now has a husband who seems to hate her and a man that no one can identify on the verge of death. The questions haunt her. Why was her husband and this stranger at the mill? And who started the fire. Jackson doesn't dissapoint readers with this complex tale of betrayal and love. Jackson always brings more characters than the main ones, some who we love, some who we hate. Don't miss it!

My library didn't have a copy of this book (I'm trying to read all of her books) so I looked on Amazon and found I had a choice; either buy a used one for 1-cent and $4 shipping, or pay $4 with free PRIME 2-day shipping. I chose the quicker method. The book was obviously used, but I expected that. It was entirly readable and when I finished it I gave it to the library.
