A few months ago, I was sharing a rushed dinner with some friends and complained that my life had become one hurried blur. Too much going on, not enough down time, and, most disconcerting for this Christian, I was reeling from a lack of quality time with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

One of my friends recommended I read 'Intimacy with the Almighty.' Later that evening I logged onto Amazon.com and purchased a copy. A few days later, while I was on the verge of a 'Tyranny of the Urgent' induced meltdown, this gem arrived in the mail.

Thanks be to God. This essay is a quick read -- but packs the most punch you can imagine from a tiny 80 or so page book. Read it and see what a fantastic, simple-to-follow (but beautifully written) blueprint for spiritual growth Chuck Swindoll lays out.

You will be truly blessed!

P.S. - I have since order six more copies and am planning to give them as Christmas presents. Not only is this a great read, but it's an attractive package (leather-look green cover with gold writing - great holiday colors)

Satan has a unique strategy for every culture. In North America today he has chosen the rat race. Keep Christians too busy doing good things that they forget Who they are doing them for! This little book helps us get back on track. Slow down, find time to be alone with God in a quiet place. Journal your thoughts. Then surrender! I have purchased several copies and given them to leaders in our church. Thank you Chuck!

This short book (80 pages) by Swindoll is one of the most practical books I have ever read. It will be difficult to practice, but if you want to establish a meaningful, full, devotional life, this may be the best thing you can get. It is profound in its simplicity. Gut wrenching in its difficulty to accomplish.
