5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS
This is one of the best books I've read by Ms. Hill. The movie did not do it justice. And to the woman who wrote: "yuck, horrific writing" She must have been blind or reading the wrong book. The movie was good, but in no way compared to the depth of the story or the development of the characters and the complexity of it. That reviewer needs to go back to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Read
This was a good book. A story about Reese Delaware, a reporter with the ability to seek out the truth, except when it comes to her own past and the handsome Maxwell Knight with a shadowy past of his own. The book and the movie have two different story lines. I have seen the movie and read the book and they are very different, I personally perfer the book because it was...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Page Turner, October 14, 1999

This review is from: Intimate Betrayal (Arabesque) (Paperback)
Where has this book been all my life? This is the first book that I've ever read by Ms.Hill and believe me, it will not be the last. I saw Intimate Betrayal on BET's Arabesque Nights and decided to read it. Boy, am I glad I did. The television show did not do it justice. Reese and Maxwell are people regular people, not people larger than life. There were several stories interwoven with the main story. The supporting characters enhanced the main characters by allowing us to look into the past without losing track of the present. I loved this book. It was one of the best books I've ever read. Reading it made me nervous. I just couldn't seem to read it fast enough. I plan to read every novel that I can find by Donna Hill. Thanks again, Ms. Hill for a truly wonderful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars OH MY GOODNESS! What a book!, December 29, 2002
I can not begin to say how good this book was! This book was bought for me as a gift from my boyfriend. At the time, I was reading another book, but I was curious to see what the book was about. Setting my book aside I only intended to read the first page. After the first page I couldn't stop. This book was sooooooo good! I finished it in a week!

Intimate Betrayal is about a man name Maxwell that has his own compnay by the name of M.K. Interprise. Maxwell is half Japanese and half Black. He is very secretive and to himself and does not trust others as the result of one woman Victoria Davenport. He loved this woman with all his heart and soul. He trusted her with his deepest most personal secerts and she did the unthinkable to him. Because of what she did to him he keeps his guard up when it comes to trust people especially women.

His guard slowly begins to crumble when he is told by his secretary that a reporter by the name of Reese Delware is on her way to interview him. He tries his best to keep his guard up, but he slowly begins to fall inlove with this mysterious woman who has a fatal past that could changed both of their lives forever and put them at dangerous risk.

When they both decided to take a trip to Tokoyo things will start to change for the good and the bad. This story had me on the edge of my seat during the entire read. Every chapter makes you wanna hurry to the next. It was hard for me to put this book down. I recommend it to all book lovers! You won't regret picking this one up.

Donna Hill thanks you so much for a wonderful PAGETURNER! I am heading to the bookstore now to get your other novel .....A Private Affair!

*You have a new fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful, January 5, 2000
This review is from: Intimate Betrayal (Arabesque) (Paperback)
This book was just beautiful. I too fell in love with Maxwell. It was perfect from beginning to end. From the first word to the last word. Better than the movie. The person that wrote that Yuck review is clueless.

This was one book that was really different from other romance novels. Ms. Hill really out did herself with the twists and twines of the story line. Everytime you thought you figured out what would happen next, the story takes on a new twist. I really enjoyed this story. I usually do not like mysteries, but this had just enough mystery to keep you on the edge. I would love to see a sequel to this book. I missed the movie, but I would love to see it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Complex, enjoyable story., December 8, 1999
By A Customer
I picked up Intimate Betrayal the book after seeing the movie. The movie only whet my appetite for the book. And, I'm glad I did! Reese and Maxwell are two interesting people who have secrets and empty spaces in their lives. The similarity in their struggles to succeed is subtle at first, but it becomes obvious. The attraction between them was obvious and it went from smoldering to hot. Ms. Hill has written a very enjoyable story with multi-faceted characters and situations. Read this and savor it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely Lovely book and I'm not even finished yet, July 12, 2011
I was lucky enough to stumble across this novel amongst a stack of books in a Goodwill store. Glanced through it and it sounded interesting enough and for just a buck? I pounced on it and I am sure glad I did. The characters are real and not ridiculously unbelievable. Also the Author Donna Hill uses language that is detailed, colorful and flowy but not trashy like some "romance" novels choose to do. I felt ike this novel balanced the delicious storyline and characters with intelligent language to create a very thrilling read. I will most certainly read more of her work!

Debra Mitchell (Black Women With Opinions & Attitudes Book Club) Chicago

This book is excellent and is one of the best books I've read by Ms. Hill. I read this on my Kindle and couldn't push the button to advance to the next page fast enough. I am so looking forward to meeting Ms. Hill at the Cavalcade of Authors 2011 in Chicago. I finished reading a few days ago and Max and Reese are still with me, I find their story of mystery and suspense simply outstanding. I enjoyed their story immensely!
