Like Perfect Weapon, and Hit Hard, this book kept me reading late into the night. In Intimate Danger, research scientist Clancy McRae is appalled to find out that the nanotechnology she has been working on and testing to help soldiers in the field has been used on humans way before it's ready. While she's tested primates, no way would she condone the use of the technology on humans. It was just too soon. While those around her are going for the money and power using her research for their own purposes, she holds on to her moral values and tries to correct the mistakes of those on her team. Finding the four Marines used as "test subjects" is priority. She has to deactivate the pods as soon as possible.

Her search takes her to Peru, where she meets Michael Gannon, the leader of the Marines the technology has been used on. Michael, the leave no man behind Marine is looking for his team, shot down while on a mission. Though he is attracted to Clancy, he doesn't act love struck or unprofessional when he meets her. He also doesn't automatically trusted her, which is how someone in his position should be. While he keeps focused on the task of finding his men, he does research into Clancy and uses his many contacts to find out what he can about her. Capable, smart and strong, Michael acted like a true Marine, and definitely one of the good guys.

Mike and Clancy made a good team and I liked that the attraction between them didn't distract from the story. Making Clancy a veteran of Desert Storm helped validate her capabilities when confronted with danger through out the story. A research scientist without that background wouldn't be as believable.

I think the only negatives in the book were the switching back and forth in the story lines, even though everything came together in the end. Overall I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to others that like Romantic Suspense books, and of course, a military hero.

Proud of her progress, research scientist Clancy McRae has worked hard on her nanotechnology project to enhance animal capabilities. However, she is outraged to learn that the military took her advancements and placed them inside four marines. That alone would be unethical, but so far her experiments on animals have resulted in a 100 percent identical effect of each test case going insanely berserk regardless of species. She fears these soldiers will follow suit and desperately wants to help them before they become so dangerous they must die so Clancy steals classified documents to begin her quest.

Marines Spec Ops leader Mike Gannon finds out that while he healed from an injury on their last assignment, his squad worked a dangerous mission in the Peruvian jungle. They failed to return so Mike plans to go bring them home dead or alive as no marine is ever left behind. However before he goes too far Clancy informs him that their government has turned his men into guinea pigs. He assumes she is a nut because his country would never commit such an atrocity especially on patriots like his team. He soon changes his mind when someone tries to kill her. He must keep Clancy safe because she is the only hope for his men, but nether knows what awaits them in the Andes. It will prove far more dangerous than unethical federal agents.

INTIMATE DANGER is an exciting romantic suspense thriller with the emphasis on the escapades and adventures starting even before the lead duo hook up. Once they meet, sparks ignite, but after he is convinced she is legit and his men in trouble, they both agree the team comes before the attraction. Though some might scoff at the Feds conducting human experiments to produce super Captain America soldiers (remember NYC subway testing in the 1950s and rendition to abusive regimes including so called public enemies), those of us who believe the government capable of anything will appreciate this action-packed thriller.

Mike Gannon is a Special Ops soldier who was injured on a mission. While recovering, he finds out that his team has been dispatched to the Peruvian jungles to find a top secret and deadly weapon. However, no one has heard from them since. Soldier first and foremost, Mike doesn't care how injured he is, he is going to find his comrades and either rescue them or bring their bodies home. There is just one thing standing in his way, and she is red headed and a spitfire.

Clancy McRae is an inventor and not a happy camper. Told to find a way to make a device to boost the performance of soldiers, Clancy is stunned to find out that what she created was implanted into four Marines without her knowledge. Then, if that isn't bad enough, no one has heard from them since they were sent on a mission to Peru. Knowing the effects of her untried and untested device, Clancy has to find those men - even if she has to go to Peru herself.

Mike does not believe the wacky virago when she first tells him her story. The longer he is around her, the more he believes. Well, and the fact that someone wants her to be silenced...forever.

If you are not a fan of suspense, edgy romance, and complete absorption in a plot, then Intimate Danger is not for you. If you are, then grab a drink, sit back, and immerse yourself in this delightful addition to any bookshelf. Intimate Danger kept me on pins and needles the entire time I was reading. I thought Mike was loyal, sexy as hell, and everything a soldier in my mind should be. Clancy was feisty and extremely smart, and she since she continuously surprised Mike throughout the entire book, exasperating comes to mind. Their attraction for each other was evident pretty early in the book, but I really like how their romance was written. Desperately they loved at times, and at others, the explored sensually.

Intimate Danger is my first Amy J. Fetzer book. I am now such a fan, I have to go back and read her previous works!

A computer expert, Clancy McRae works for the US Government on a highly classified nano technology project. Lab testing is being done in primates. To her shock and disgust, her boss and a co-worker go behind her back to give human soldiers the implants--even though she has told them the implants are not ready for human use. She tracks the location of the soldiers on their latest mission, and heads there to try to save them. Meanwhile, Mike Gannon is sent on a mission to find his team when they are lost. Sparks fly when they cross paths. Drug cartels, corrupt police, covert operatives, high ranking military--they all play into the high octane plot that's full of twists and turns.

Overall this was an entertaining mix of action, mystery, suspense and romance. I liked the main characters. Mike is your typical tough alpha male special ops character. Clancy was a smart, fiesty character--I liked that she wasn't one of those wimpering 'save me, save me' type girls. Also there's a surprise revealed about her family that was pretty cool. I liked the romance between Clancy and Mike, but I would have liked a bit more focus on the romantic relationship.

Where I knock back some points is that the story became kind of hard to follow at some points. Also it was unrealistic that Clancy would go into a third world country on her own against drug cartels and terroists and succeed. I thought it was suspect that Mike would do the same, but at least in his case he had been there before and had local contacts. Also the publisher's cover design is completely cheesy. But all in all, it was a fast paced, entertaining read.

The relationship between Clancy and Mike was terrific. The dialog was great, the action terrific. I loved the fact that their relationship took time to grow. They didn't fall into lust right away, they grew to trust each other, then attracted and finally in love. It was actually believable.

What I didn't like is there were so many other story lines going on at the same time. The entire storyline with Salache & Marianna could have been left out. Also, the one with Antone Choufani could have been left out completely. I would almost like to re-read this book and just skip those parts. I bet it would be a much better book. After I finished the book, I kept thinking about Clancy and Mike and what would happen next. I never thought about Marianna or Antone. Besides all the extra story lines, the other think that made this book confusing is sometimes the author would call a character by their first name (Antone) and other times by their last name (Chaufani) without ever referring to their other name. I was constantly flipping back and forth thinking, "Who is she talking about now?"

I really liked the book for the relationship. Just wish it had been edited -- big time.

Clancy's skill and courage would have seemed ridiculous without her being a veteran of Desert Storm.

This was an excellent book!

I have enjoyed Amy Fetzer since I read Naked Truth, and I absolutely loved the character of Clancy in this book. However, while the other storylines in the book were relevent to the story, I felt that there was too much of that and too little character development for Clancy. I would have loved to know how she became the person she was, and more about her relationship with her family.

All in all, I enjoyed this book, and will continue to have any books by Amy Fetzer on my auto-buy list.

I liked this fast moving story, with believable situations, A little scary sometimes, but good.

Ms Fetzer's writes the kind of romantic suspense that makes readers yearn for more of those sexy Marines. Oohrah! This story was well-written, lots of adventure and action, sexy as all get out, and the alpha male makes you melt with hunger for your very own Marine. Kudos to the author for a job well done. I can't wait for the next one!
