EXCELLENT HANDBOOK,

INTIMATE MOMENTS WITH THE HEBREW NAMES OF GOD is an excellent source for learning and/or expanding one's knowledge about the descriptions of God. Especially useful is the key to pronounication, the scripture reference, and the Hebrew characters for each name given. Personally, I am currently using this book as a companion to the bible study written by Kay Arthur which also concerns different names of God. The authors' commentary on each word reads like a individual praise of worship. I recommend this book as one to keep by the nightstand--read a name a day.

Excellent devotional, in the spirit of "Our Daily Bread",

The authors have produced a devotional book of sorts that runs through the different names given to God throughout the entire Bible. The focus is for those who believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the promised Messiah, because the authors use names from the Apostolic Scriptures (New Testament) as well as from the Tanakh (Old Testament). If the thought of using Hebrew for New Testament names is troublesome to you, please consider that the so-called "Aramaic Hypothesis" is not as well-grounded as you may think (see works such as "Discovering The Language of Jesus" by Douglas Hamp). This is not meant to be a scholarly treatise, but designed to enlighten you to the Name and character of God in a personal way (hence the title of the book ...).The book lists in English-alphabetical order many of the names found in the Bible that are used for God. What is nice is the fact that the authors have gone beyond the traditional "Lord/God" titles. There are many other names used in the Bible for the Lord, and these provide some nice insights into the nature of the Lord. These types of titles are very Jewish, but sadly you often don't see these in Christian literature. The verse where the Name is used is provided, along with a small 2-3 sentence devotional. On the negative side, using nikud (pointed) Hebrew might have been more helpful because transliteration styles vary and no style in particular is specified. Also some of the Names seem not really to be names per se (for example, we are told that His name is majestic, but His name is not Majestic), but this is really splitting hairs on my part. Some suggestions as to how this book could be used focus upon a devotional/worship area. The book could be a nice personal devotion text, similar to something like "Our Daily Bread." The little thoughts provided on the particular Name provided by the author are brief, and serve as a starter guide for further contemplation. Another way this could be used, and I plan to try this myself, is to be used in corporate worship (for Messianics, perhaps before/after the Torah Service). If your worship team uses "themes" for day, you might want to consider starting off the worship time with a Name that relates to the day's worship theme. In wither case, the Name can be provided, along with the verses on which the name is based, for a time of reflection. Finally, one could also use this for teaching Hebrew. I might try it the next time teach a Hebrew class. In summary, this is a nice little book that I think any believer in Yeshua (Jesus) will value and help in their devotional walk.

Intimate Moments,

Years ago, a name always carried a meaning. Usually it was who you were, what you did for a living or a character trait. We are told by scripture that a "good name" is of more worth than gold. As the reader is introduced to the many different titles names by which the scriptures reveal to us God's character, His attributes, His great love and mercy and His wrath, we begin to get a true picture and gain valuable insight into the God of creation. As you explore Him, may He open your eyes to the truth of the living God, available to ALL who seek to know Him in a much more intimate and personal way.

I'll keep this short: It is a good and useful book. (Christians: Beware of any review of Christian books written by people who are not Christians. They are entitled to their opinion but they cannot possibly be objective.)

It's very simple with a lot of God's names in English & Hebrew. Not many pages but a very nice book. It, too, came nicely packaged & no shipping harm to it.

I thought it was a waste of money. I thought it was going to be about the 72 names of G/D in the Torah but it lost validity when they started to call the hebrew names of G/D from "The New Testament". The works of the so called apostles would have been written in Aramaic not Hebrew. Then they try to include the Jesus of Nazareth figure in as part of the divine names of G/D. Another example of how unenlighted Gentiles are trying to make a fast buck at other people's expense.
