5.0 out of 5 stars Sensual and Hypnotic. But not "too" pretty.
This is one of those rare cd's you come across that you love from start to finish on the first listen. I own Body and Soul and Beat Street also, and I do not disagree at all with the great reviews of those efforts. However, Intimate Secrets, to me, is Rick Braun's best. Unlike Body and Soul, Intimate Secrets is not "too" pretty ala Kenny G. and such. Therefore...

I vas very disappointed after I was listening to this record.Rick looses his fine sense for jazzy sound, and falled in a deep stupid commerce.I will wait for the next album anyway, but....turn back to your roots Rick!!

Unlike Body and Soul, Intimate Secrets is not "too" pretty ala Kenny G. and such. Therefore this disc is much more listenable to at any time.

The combination of Rick's classy, lonesome muted horn and Jeff Golub's Spanish guitar (which flavors the feeling throughout this cd) are a perfect match. If you are a music fan period, not just a smooth jazz fan, treat yourself to this cd, you will love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rick Braun's Intimate Secrets, February 27, 2001

I love Rick Braun's Intimate Secrets CD. I listen to it every morning when I wake up. THe music is soothing and intimate. I plan on using the Intimate Secrets CD for my workshops.

Rick Braun is an excellent trumpet and flugel horn player. It's obvious Rick loves what he does and it is obvious to hear it in his music. I love the way he blends the Spanish acoustical guitar as well on this CD.

The CD Intimate Secrets is a must have as part of my collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fusionistic Debut, April 13, 2003

Rick Braun's debut "Intimate Secrets", shows him at his most creative, as the album explores the realm of Fusion as well as Smooth-Jazz, but Fusion definately holds for this album. From smooth soundscapes to exotic and the surreal, this album is an excursion from start to finish and it is a definate album for traveling (whether by transportation or meditation/contemplation really). Although this is somewhat different from Braun's later releases, one can always tell his signature sound of mellowness and the lush melody, flow, and feel.

This was my first Braun Album and it brought me back for more. Cut 4, Laura, is worth the price of the album by itself. Have been times I've put that cut on auto replay for hours. Whole album is very listenable, and great for turning down the lights for a little romance. Or just to listen to, and remeber that romance that once was.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Rick Braun's discovery CD, June 28, 2011

This review is from: Intimate Secrets (Audio CD)
In 1994 I was in New York City, ready to attend a concert by Al Di Meola at The Manhattan Center. The opening act was supposed to be "Groove Collective", but they were substituted by a trumpet player, already known for his performances with the Sade's band (he is the trumpet player in her first Live DVD). I immediately recognized the guy, had the chance to get an autograph and bought two of his CD's. This one was the first and I loved it. Rick Braun is the guy that introduced me to the smooth jazz trumpet sound. It brings me good memories and I bought it again after my original Cd was stollen. It's good to have it back in my CD collection. If you like smooth jazz, this one is for you!
