About the Author

Garth Nix, the New York Times bestselling author of the acclaimed novels Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen, as well as the Seventh Tower and Keys to the Kingdom series, has had a long and varied career in the publishing world. After receiving his degree in professional writing from the University of Canberra, he started working in the publishing industry, steadily moving from the positions of sales rep to publicist. In 1991 he became a senior editor with a major multinational publisher. After a period in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, he left publishing in 1993 to work as a marketing communications consultant, but came back in 1999 to become a part-time literary agent. Garth Nix has worked as a bookseller, book sales representative, publicist, editor, marketing consultant and literary agent. He also spent five years as a part-time soldier in the Australian Army Reserve. It's no surprise that 'Into Battle' ---the fifth book of Nix's Seventh Tower series--- is wonderfully written and is mostly equal to the other books. Tal and Milla are now separated, Milla back on the ice and Tal in the castle. But with each of them, a new burden lies: Milla's new title as War-Chief, baring the Terrible Talon of Danir, and Tal's responsibility to warn the Empress of the close danger that now presses upon their everyday lives and to release Lokar from the Red Keystone. Though it starts off a bit sluggishly (quite odd, as a matter-of-fact, considering the fact that the other books dived right into the action) this was utterly surprising with twists and turns and newly-discovered truths that will leave you gasping for breath. It only makes you wonder why the series is only 6 books long. Nix puts his literary talents to work in this book, and weaves a spellbinding tale of magic, shadows and sunstones around our two leading characters that is wonderful for anyone, of any age. I'm thirteen and love it, even my friend's mother enjoys this series! With a wonderfully creative plot that is full of imaginative detail, and characters of such depth, charm, humour and fear, this book still refuses to leave the list of my favourite books. Read the series and I guarantee you'll agree!

Milla has returned to the Icecarls. But instead of being left to the mercy of the Ice, as she believed she would be because of her Spiritshadow, she is made War-Chief of all the Icecarls, charged with leading an assault on the Castle. The Icecarls believe they must destroy the Chosen in order to keep the Veil from falling and the inhabitants of Aenir from invading the Dark World. Meanwhile, Tal is on a quest to save his family, free his father, and defeat Sushin, the evil being behind everything. Tal and Milla were once forced to work together. Now, they are on opposite sides of the battle, not realizing that they have a common enemy. Both are in a race against time to save their worlds. Can they succeed before it is too late? All fans of the Seventh Tower series won't want to miss this, the latest thrilling book in the saga. The wait until the sixth book comes out in November is far too long.

Tal and Milla are fighting a war that has plunged the entire Dark World into unimaginable danger. Milla, who is now a leader of her Icecarl people, must find a way into the Castle, with the alliance of the Rebel Underfolk who will stop at nothing to destory the Chosen's Castle. Tal must find the Empress and inform her of the hideous plan that the evil and mysterious Sushin may unleash -- but what he finds will change everything. The two children are no longer in the safety of their homes, and they are no longer under the shadow of those protecting them. As the battle heats up into extraordinary danger for the both of them, they will have to fight by themselves -- until the bitter end. The Seventh Tower #5: Into Battle is an exciting addition to Garth Nix's wonderful series, but I still liked Aenir and Above The Veil slightly more than this, Into Battle. The wait for the sixth and final book in the series, The Violet Keystone, will not be easy; Garth Nix managed to please yet again with the fifth book in the exciting Seventh Tower series.
